Make the holidays special for your pooch with their own indulgent snacks. Here’s a dog-friendly cake recipe by PetRescue team member Bella (which is 100% approved by her pupper Zarla!)

💚 Ingredients
🐾 1/2 a medium sweet potato
🐾 1 Egg
🐾 1 cup Flour
🐾 1 Tbsp Peanut butter
🐾 1 Tbsp Oil
💚 Icing
🐾 1 Tbsp Peanut butter
🐾 A dash of water
💚 Method:
🐾 Preheat the oven to 180C/350F.
🐾 Grease your cake tin or line with baking paper.
🐾 Peel and cut the sweet potato into smaller chunks. Add the sweet potato and egg to the blender and blend until smooth.
🐾 In a medium mixing bowl add the flour, peanut butter, oil and sweet potato mix. Stir the mixture until combined.
🐾 Pour your mixture into the cake tin and bake for 20 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
🐾 Then remove the cake from the oven and place on a cooling rack to cool completely.
*It’s important to note with this recipe that it won't rise and will come out quite moist. If you would like a fluffier cake you may wish to add 2 teaspoons of baking soda to your mixture.*
🐾 Once your cake has cooled completely you may wish to get creative and cut out your cake in the shape of a dog bone just like we did.
💚 Yummy Icing:
🐾 Add the peanut butter and a dash of water to a small mixing bowl. Whip the mixture until the peanut butter is smooth and fluffy. Now, spread the mixture onto your cake and voila!
