How to give your cat the slow blink ‘kitty kiss’
Cats slow-blink at each other, as well as the people they love. This non-threat signal shows that they feel safe and secure in their surroundings. It also helps maintain good social interactions and is a fun one to try yourself!
The slow blink is a sign of a fully relaxed cat, and blinking back reassures your cat that you, too, are relaxed and that all is calm and well in the universe.
So next time you notice your cat (or any cat for that matter!) staring at you, very slowly shut your eyes and slowly open them again, and you might notice a rather transfixed kitty gazing adoringly back at you.
