Peggy's Promise aims to assist with the basic needs of many domestic pets living in NSW.
The project is run by volunteers and is heavily reliant on the goodwill and compassion for those who are in need. There are many people who go without themselves to care for those who may be their only family or friend, their pet.
On occasion we take on and re home animals that our clients can no longer keep.We also offer an assisted rehoming program for people no longer able to keep their pets.
In addition we now rescue from country pounds the many unwanted and over bred animals where animal management is poor or non existent.
Peggy is a 3 legged, aged, Red Cattle x girl rescued from Wyong pound after she was due to be killed. She came to us very lost and confused; both food and animal aggressive and seemed to have severe trauma both physical and mental. When she arrived we had no doubt we would find her owner, as she had clearly been someone's much loved pet. Had she been lost with no microchip? Had her owner passed away? Had she been surrendered because her owner could no longer keep her due to financial constraints? Sadly we never found out but we KNOW she was loved before and she is loved again, living on property with our founder.
We want to prevent this from happening to other fur friends by making sure that animals are identifiable and families are supported when things get tough. These people love their pets just as you do yours, lets help prevent them from being another statistic in our pounds.
-You contact us to obtain an adoption application and discuss the dog of interest.
Once the application is completed and returned it will be assessed for suitability. We will also ask for rental agreements or rates and photos our your home please also including photos of your fencing
-A Meet and Greet with the dog and all members of the adopting family and current dogs are arranged where possible.
This usually coincides with a Yard check to ensure the safety and security of the property on which the dog will be kept. - We understand that this is not always possible in interstate adoptions and this will be discussed on your initial contact.
-Payment of the Adoption fee in full. The dog is then handed over with any belongings, and all relevant paperwork and records please not we do have contracts in place that must be signed.
-Once the 14-day 'settling in' period has ended, the change of ownership microchip details are submitted, and the adoption is officially finalised.
For interstate adoptions- Adoptor must have a meet and greet with the animal they are adopting we will not send an animal over without a meet. All transport cost including flights will need to be paid in full by the adoptor.
