About

RescueCat Project (RCP) is a collective of like-minded individuals, all of whom are involved in the practice of rescuing, or helping other to rescue and rehome cats and kittens.

The cats and kittens are, for the most part, rescued from high pounds in Sydney, but also come from the community as we help to re-home cats that are abandoned and which are taken in by the public.

RCP not only rescues cats and kittens in its own right, but it supports a number of other rescue organisations doing the same whether through photography or promotions through our Facebook page. RCP photographs cats and kittens, promotes them through its Facebook page and other media. Where we can (resources permitting) we try to help members of the community who need to rehome their own cat by photographing and promoting those cats to the wider community.

Finally, one of RCP’s members is involved in implementing TNR strategies in Sydney.

RCP is also involved in "catvocacy", that is, advocating for change in the way society views cats and kittens as disposable, and advocating for improved pound facilities in Sydney and ultimately Australia (these should not be warehouses for animals until death, but genuine rehoming facilities that actually try to rehome abandoned and lost animals).

We firmly believe that you may pay an adoption fee, but the love comes free.

RescueCat Project - like, love, follow.

Adoption details

We want to make it simple. So this is the process:

(1) You contact us.
(2) We contact you.
(3) You complete our adoption inquiry form.
(4) You meet the Cat.
(5) Subject to Cat Committee approval and a house inspection (plus a modest adoption fee), you adopt the Cat.

  • Gin

    Domestic Short Hair

    Cuddly Princess

Gin is a rare bird, being ginger and white and female. She is incredibly cuddly and affectionate and loves getting pats and going exploring, and oh, she loves her "chirpy" noises, and we think they are so cute! She is playful but calm, and her time living on the streets has meant that she's very polite: she will only eat with permission and is a very relaxed girl who doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body, she is very gentle and kind.

  • Lu Lu Lemon

    Domestic Short Hair

    Looking for love

ABOUT ME: I am a shy little girl, but when I get my confidence I love to play and play and play. I loved to rumbled with my siblings and now they are adopted, I want to come home with you! My ideal home will be with another cat because I do need a kitty to cuddle. You will want to shower me with love and keep me indoors and safe. In return I will love you and kiss you and hug you for many many years of happy cat love. If you would like to meet me please contact my foster family below. I am waiting to hear from you x WE THINK: We absolutely love this little girl - she is gorgeous and well balanced. Fortunately she had the full benefit of her mother bringing her up with her siblings and she will continue to have her love and affection until she is adopted. A Mother's love makes kittens well rounded and gives them good social and kitten behaviour :) This is the most wonderful way for kittens to start their lives in the world and now LuLu Lemon can be part of your life. NOTES: All the siblings have been adopted together or with another kitten and we would love this for lovely LuLu Lemon too. As we know from love experience that kittens do much better in life in pairs, particularly if they have working parents. A second kitten provides comfort and entertainment when their parents are out of the house :) While we adopt to apartments, we do not adopt to studio or one bedroom apartments.

  • Daisy And Maisy

    Domestic Short Hair

    Looking for love

Daisy and Maisy, looking for a home, together. These two beautiful girls are identical twins, they have also been waiting for their forever home for a year, and the saddest thing is they are only a year old. Their brother was adopted a long time ago, but these two beauties are still waiting. They have been well looked after at one of our rescue vets, and have been in their crate out in the reception area every single day, for almost their entire lives, begging every person that comes in to take them home and love them. And every day, they get overlooked. We have no idea why. Having lived in a crate in a reception area, they have been exposed to everything possible and have no fear.... little dogs? no problem. big dogs? no problem. Other cats? love em! little children? sure, why not! The only thing they are a big timid about is big spaces, but having lived almost their entire lives in a crate, who can blame them! Having lived in such close quarters together, they are beautifully bonded and we couldn't bear splitting them up. Do you have a home to offer them? Or will they be overlooked, again?

    Tabby sweetheart

~ With love and affection here is Pookie for adoption enquiries ~ ABOUT ME: I am Pookie! As my name suggests, I am a little mischievous, a little curious, a little darling and a little saint. That is, I am a the perfect kitten! Of course I am - I am a tabby and EVERYONE knows that tabbies are the best! If you want to see how perfect I can be, my suggestion is that you see whether you can take me home - it's all about me of course! WE THINK: Just gorgeous. This little one is affection plus, plus, plus, and she is quite endearing to boot. She's a little cautious, but it does not take much for her to decide that cuddles and playtime are just wonderful! • Bella The Beautiful

    Domestic Short Hair

    Curious

~ With love and affection here is Bella for adoption enquiries ~ ABOUT ME: I am Bella! It means beautiful in Italian. That's because my foster mother thought I was so beautiful that she used a special name for me. While I may be beautiful I am also quite rambunctious and definitely not shy or retiring :) I don't meow at all - I just purr❤️. You can't tell me that's not what you you've been looking for :) WE THINK: Bella and her sister Dora were found without any mamacat in sight, living in a storage crate in a basement apartment. They were fortunate to be taken into foster care. They are massively affectionate and very human orientated. They just want to love you! NOTES: Bella and Dora will need to be adopted with together as they are a bonded pair. To see Dora's Pet Rescue ad, please see here: https://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/579523 While we adopt to apartments, we do not adopt to studio or one bedroom apartments. Bella and Dora are available for $300 for the pair :)
