About Franklin
The gentle and loving Mr Franklin is now on the hunt for his forever home.
Franklin came into our care as a blank canvas with no manners, no recall and without a sense of belonging.
But within two weeks this smart lad has learnt to walk calmly on his lead and loves his daily walks with his foster family.
His recall is improving (with the aid of a long lead and his favourite toy) and he’s now learning to sit and wait for his food to be served!.
He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and waits patiently to be let out in the morning.
He is predominantly house trained and will never make a mistake inside once you pick up on his cues when he needs to go. He has great food manners and hasn’t shown any signs of food-guarding tendencies with people or other dogs.
He gets on well with other dogs and is currently boarding with two foster canine siblings. His foster home has three cats whom he has learnt to respect. Chickens are more problematic though as they are fun to chase!
Franklin will happily follow you around the house or yard while your go about your daily business. He likes to know where you are at all times, but when you’re not doing something that he finds interesting, he’s happy to be outside entertaining himself and playing with his toys - or chasing birds, bugs and flies until he tires out and finds somewhere comfortable to flop.
He loves nothing more than lying in the lounge room on his bed with his foster family at the end of a busy day and sleeping (snoring!) the evening away.
Franklin shows a whole stack of promise. This beautiful guy will need a quiet and calm family who are prepared to put in the effort and continue with his training.
Ongoing routine, training and positive reinforcement will get this gentle boy to where he needs to be as a loving & well-behaved dog.
Frank would be best suited to a home with another active dog or could be an only dog with a family who can be home with him for most of the time.
He’s likely to become bored and stressed if left on his own and will bark and may become destructive.
He’s a gentle boy who would be better suited to kids 5 or older who are respectful of dogs.
If you have the time and patience this boy both needs and deserves then head over and fill in an application. You could be the lucky person who gets to meet him.
Medical notes
Franklin is on supplements for his hips and joints, this is directed by the vet as they believe he will get arthritis earlier due to possible poor nutrition as a puppy.
