About Chaucer 11006
Chaucer is a lovely boy who is on the hunt for a loving forever home. He's suitable for those who have experience owning feline friends.
Chaucer's story began with him being timid and frightened, he hid a lot in his condo & did not want to interact with staff. But his transformation has been nothing short of remarkable. Our dedicated staff have been hard at work, helping boost his confidence. Today, Chaucer is a shining example of what love and patience can achieve in a cat's life!
Due to his timidity, Chaucer would thrive in an indoor-only environment. He's open to meeting kids aged 5 years and up, as long as they can understand his shy nature. A calm and quiet household would be the perfect setting for Chaucer to continue to grow his confidence. Chaucer will happily show off how sweet he is but still tends to shy away when approached – it’s not long before he comes right back out & will happily accept pats & cuddles.
If you have another cat at home, Chaucer is open to the idea. He has shown social and playful behaviour when interacting with other cats, although we always recommend a slow and patient introduction process.
However, we would not recommend rehoming him with a dog, as he's still working out his comfort zone.
Chaucer's initial shyness gives way to a low-key, easy-going nature once he feels comfortable. He loves small stuffed toys and enjoys grazing on his food throughout the day. He's not picky about his food and always uses his litter tray impeccably.
Chaucer doesn’t like to be picked up but he’s very happy to be handled, cuddles & patted. He will purr when you pet him, make biscuits, and even roll over to show you his tummy. Plus, he's quite the conversationalist and loves to talk to you about his day.
Chaucer is a fiend for attention – he will ignore his food if pats are on offer, and he can sometimes give you a harmless love-bite during play time. Drooling is one way that Chaucer expresses how much he loves attention & affection.
Chaucer has some a long way from the scared cat who first arrived at our shelter. He's now a sweet and agreeable boy who's ready to bring cuddles and love into your home.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
