Are you ready to bring Bowser into your life? If you have experience with dogs, a calm and loving home, and the time to give him the care and attention he deserves, he's waiting for you with open paws!
About Me: Don't let his size fool you; Bowser thinks he's a lap dog and will cosy up to you whenever he gets the chance. He's a big dog that thinks he's a small dog. He'll happily try & sit on your lap without much thought about the logistics behind it. Bowser is a dog with a calm and agreeable nature. He's a bit of an independent spirit & he'll be your loyal companion through thick and thin.
Ideal Home: Bowser is searching for a calm and quiet home where he can relax and thrive. He's best suited to someone who has owned dogs before. Bowser dreams of a medium to large sized yard with high, secure fencing where he can explore and play safely. He'll appreciate having access to both indoors and outdoors as well. He love sbeing outside & sightseeing but adores being close to his humans. He would feel most comfortable in a household with a relaxed atmosphere as loud noises tend to scare him.
Family: Bowser is open to meeting kids aged 12 years and up.
Furry Friends: Due to his limited socialization in his previous home, Bowser is best suited as the only dog in the home. He's not openly against meeting other dogs but he'll require initial & ongoing socialisation training until he learns how to appropriately interact with other dogs. As we cannot test we are unsure about his compatibility living with cats or pocket pets.
Work Hard: Bowser knows how to sit, and he's eager to learn more. Post-adoption training, whether at home or with a professional, will help him flourish. Bowser is treat motivated & he takes them gently.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play Hard: Bowser's energy needs are moderate. Daily walks & exercise would benefit this big boy. Bowser is a pro on the leash, making those daily walks a breeze! Daily exercise sessions of 30-60 minutes will keep him happy and healthy. While he isn't too fond of toys, Bowser prefers the best kind of playtime – human interaction! Bowser is a cuddle bug! He absolutely adores affection and will be your best snuggle buddy.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
