About Martha and Matti Wilberforce
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:

Martha and Matti are adorable friends who love life and complete each other. They are best buddies and will be rehomed as a pair. Easy going around the house, Matti and Martha are both house-trained, though Matti prefers if a human goes with him when there are birds around. They are calm when travelling and love being able to see out the windows when the car is standing still. Both are comfortable being handled and bathed. In foster care, they have lived in both a house and an apartment, showing themselves adaptive to both environments and relaxed around the home.
Matti and Martha adore people of all sizes, love getting out each day for exercise and daily catch ups around the neighbourhood and will excitedly welcome visitors at home. As seniors they spend a great deal of time catching up on their beauty sleep, with short windows of active energy and after meals will play happily together. They love their walks and having a chance to smell all the smells, meet all the people and stretch their legs. They both walk well on lead.
Matti is a pretty chilled guy, happy to go with the flow. Martha is the Yang to Matti’s Yin, sassy and sparky and ready to lead the way. Matti is clearly used to Martha’s occasional theatrics and will move off to do his own thing when she gets overexcited or wants to play alone. They are each delightful friendly dogs, a joy to have around and complementing each other beautifully.
Matti can be quite shouty at other dogs when out and about, and Martha will join the noise if she is nearby; however, they do settle down quickly and can walk calmly past others when their human/s keep moving forward. That said, while Matti and Martha do enjoy each other’s canine company they would need a slow and calm introduction to other small dogs if they will be sharing a home. They are not good candidates for living with larger, high energy or in-your-face dogs.
They sleep well in their beds through the night and are calm and snoozy about the house when exercise and feed times are over. Martha doesn’t do well left alone and prefers to Velcro to the room a human is in, while Matti is happy if a human is somewhere in the house but feels no needs to follow them around. These sociable pups will need plenty of quality time with their family: Matti loves a cuddle and toy time equally, while Martha prefers to curl up on you lap or at your side.
Martha and Matti will do well with a calm lifestyle in an adult home with at least one person who is home most of the time. They can handle grippy stairs however as aging seniors would prefer if their home only has a few or has a ramp for easier access.
While they have the glorious calm that comes with maturity, Matti and Martha are sociable and bright dogs, looking forward to a new forever home that will share love, life and the occasional adventure with them. If you have space in your home and heart for this gorgeous and easy-going pair, they would love you to submit an adoption application.
Thank you to Nick Harry for the beautiful photos of Matti and Martha.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

The application form must be emailed to us:

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
