About Max Xenakis

Max is a great dog, fun, playful, and full of life. He is a master at hide-n-seek and loves to play fetch although he doesn’t always drop the ball – it is much more fun if you chase after him!
He is great in his own environment and chills as long as he knows where you are. He does come asking for a pat or for belly rubs a few times during the day or he might want to sit peacefully near you.
Max loves you so much, that he worries when you leave, or if he thinks you are going to leave. This can lead to separation anxiety and sometimes destroying items left in his reach. He is an intuitive boy who feeds off your energy, matching your mood and emotions.
Max is great with other dogs and looks forward to meeting his doggy friends on his morning and evening walks – he is up for playing with them any time of the day. He is always happy to meet new people, and can at times be a bit enthusiastic by barking hello and jumping. He does settle down though.
Max has had obedience training at home. He follows commands like sit, bed, pen, food, no, and stop. He is also house trained.
This beautiful boy will thrive in an active home with an experienced dog person who is able to work with Max and his separation anxiety. He would be happy to share his new family with an older, calm dog who can share life with Max and provide guidance with leading behavior.
Max is a bundle of fun and love. He needs some help with his anxiety, but time spent with this wonderful boy will be well rewarded with a loyal and loving companion – who will probably be better at playing hide and seek than you!
Max is untested with cats.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

We look forward to receiving your application.
