About Jack
Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- A home with a greyhound companion OR a family situation where people are home more often than not
From car rides to cuddles, from walks to peaceful moments, Jack adores every moment of life. This wonderful boy is house-trained, affectionate, and adores spending quality time with his human friends.
While in foster care, Jack has been living harmoniously with a female greyhound, while the owner works full time. For this reason, we believe Jack is best suited to either a home with a greyhound, or an owner who is home often.
When coming home, you will be greeted with a heartwarming ritual that never fails to melt the heart. Jack leans in and rubs his head against your leg, and his tail starts wagging like there's no tomorrow. It's his way of saying 'welcome home' in the sweetest, most endearing manner imaginable. Inside the house, Jack will be your shadow who loves to be by your side wherever you go. When you decide to stay in one room for a while, he will settle onto his bed in that very room. It's his way of giving you your space and letting you know that he is content to be close by while you go about your business. When Jack settles into his bed, get ready to see his performance of the ‘two-circle shuffle’ - he insists on doing two full circles to make certain he's found the coziest position.
Jack absolutely loves going for walks and is enthusiastic with nature, exploring everything around him. He is easy on the lead and has no problems with loud traffic noise. He has learnt how to ‘wait’ and ‘go’ across roads when you command. When encountering other dogs that aren’t greyhounds, Jack still gets a little excited but is learning to improve his social interactions with fellow canines. With consistent guidance, support and time, Jack is sure to overcome this minor challenge.
When it comes to car rides, Jack will put his front legs in the car, then pause as he waits for you to lift his backside. Once inside and you’re on the road, he is a total car enthusiast, poking his head out the window and enjoying the different scents of the outdoors as he watches the world go by.
If you are a loving owner seeking a lifelong friend, Jack will enrich your life with plenty of love, happiness and companionship.
[Note: Under Victorian Law greyhounds must be on-leash at all times in public areas, including in off-leash parks or ovals]
