Jovean is the sweetest guy with a cheeky attitude and oh so playful!! He just loves playing chase or tug of war with his human or other playmate dogs! Jovean is very affectionate and loves cuddles and kisses, also loves having his ears rubbed, it relaxes him. He is gentle with humans big and small. He loves little kids! He didn’t get much attention or time in his first home, but he finally got some attention he deserved with his carer, he is proving to be a smart, polite boy and a quick learner. He is toilet trained and polite with food around humans and other dogs.

Jovean’s ideal future home will be include a resident mentor dog friend who seeks a playmate and companion but who can help him to learn too. His preference would probably be a female, as he was quite attached to the female in his first foster home where he had the company of both a male and female (cattle dogs). They would need to be playful and have the energy level of a 1yo doggy who likes to wrestle and play chasey. Jovean exudes energy and likes a lot of play time and walks to help him burn that off. He shows no aggression with food or at play time. He has been learning to chase the ball, he is also happy to chase the dog chasing the ball!, has learned basic “sit”, “drop” and “up” commands. He does like to explore, dig and chew on things as puppies do, so lots of chew toys are a must!

This young fella missed out on his formative months with a committed owner, spending his days alone and ignored in a back yard. We assume that some human contact he did have was impatient with his puppy exuberance and as a result he has shown fear of young men. He was living (previous foster) in a home with an adult female and male, a teenage male and a young male child and he was wary of the teenager only, but he has learned over time and more exposure to males that nobody is going to hurt him. In his new home a female (human) is a must so he feels he has his “safe” person, but with a little time, consistency, patience and understanding living with a gentle male human you will gain his trust and he be your best mate (he did with his first carer, and with his current).

His new family might consider taking him to puppy school to bond and learn together, or if they are experienced be willing to spend the time teaching him what a puppy normally would know at his age. He is smart and will love being occupied with one-on-one time learning things. He will benefit from a daily walk with his humans and dog friend. We have been working on walking on the lead and he is getting the idea pretty quickly, also being exposed to the outside world and noisy roads to help him to build confidence, he still needs to be shown that he is safe with his human. Jovean is very responsive to his name and has great recall. He is so great with all other dogs and wary of cats, he is very sociable.

He is a very happy loving puppy and will be a great addition to a loving and active family that will include him and their resident dog in their daily lives. Now that he is learning what a dog’s life is about, all he needs is to find his own family and best doggo friend so he can settle in and live his best life.
