About Phoebe
This pretty youngster is Phoebe, a shy but gentle and super sweet mixed breed girl born on 26 September 2022 and weighing 27 kgs, so very much a medium-sized dog.
As to what breed mix she is, we think a solid dose of Pointer and Bull Terrier, maybe a sprinkle of Great Dane - but not too much because she's not large - and a dollop of working dog because just about every dog on the Southern Downs has a touch of kelpie, border collie or cattle dog.
Reluctantly surrendered due to a change in family circumstances and through no fault of her own, Phoebe loves people once she gets to know them and is great with her own kind, as you can see from the photos. She has been socialised with children, whom she loves.
She'd never worn a collar or a halter until she came into care and is still a bit wary of them, but once on, she's made good progress with walking on a lead. She walks behind - 'cos she's a bit nervous of the big wide world - or beside you but enjoys getting out and about.
Her foster mum is teaching her the basics, starting with "come" and feeling comfortable when people approach her. She's clever, keen to please and loves treats so is halfway there.
She's already formed a warm bond with her foster mum, who says, "When Phoebe's relaxed, she’s the sweetest thing, loves to be cuddled and patted".
You'll need a little time and patience to win her trust, but when you do, you'll be rewarded with a calm, affectionate, clever, playful, loyal and sweet-tempered young dog that is so, so quiet. Her foster mum hasn't heard her bark yet!! She will make a delightful companion for an active individual or family.
Preference will be given to homes where someone is around most of the time and there is another compatible dog for Phoebe to play with.
As always, secure fencing is essential.
If you are interested in meeting this lovely girl and can offer her a suitable, safe and loving forever home, PLEASE COMPLETE THE ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
Phoebe is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is also flea and worm-treated.
