About Norton
Hi everyone, my name is Norton (Nortie for short) and I am a well-behaved gentleman cat with an adorable pink nose.
I am a huge cuddle bug with the sweetest meows. Once I’m comfortable in my environment I love hanging out with my foster parent’s on the couch watching telly, purring loudly and asking for pets!
My favourite things in life are:
- Food! I become more vocal close to meal time
- Napping on a comfy pillow or bed throughout the day
- Pets and head rubs!
- Snuggling up on my foster parent's chest while she reads in bed. Whenever I see her getting ready for bed, I come running!
Every once in a while I will get a burst of energy for a bit of zoomies and play time. But generally I am quite a relaxed cat and reserve my energy for eating, trilling for attention or kneading the blankets on my (foster parent's) bed.
If you can give me tasty food, some love and affection in a calm environment, plenty of pets and head rubs, and let me snuggle with you during bed time, I will be a very happy kitty.
Medical notes
Norton is FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
It is important to realize that while it is impossible to predict the survival of a given cat infected with FIV, they can live very normal, healthy lives for many years if managed appropriately.
Casual, non-aggressive contact does not appear to be an efficient route of spreading the virus. As a result, cats in households with stable social structures where housemates do not fight are at little risk of acquiring FIV infections.
How else can I help protect an FIV-positive cat?
Nutrition is important for all cats, FIV positive or not, along with limiting as best as you can their exposure to potential pathogens. These measures are important and can extend an already long life. It is especially necessary for FIV positive cats to be kept indoors, where their immune system will be less exposed. An examination at the vet twice a year is very important.
