About Bruce
***URGENT***
Guess who is finally looking for his forever home?
Yes - it is the stunning Bruce (originally Jasper) from Queensland!
Current location: QLD/Kingaroy (can be moved to Brisbane, Toowoomba or the Sunshine Coast)
If you follow our page, you will probably remember this boy....he didn't have a good start in life through no fault of his own!
Coming from a registered breeder (who could not take him back)..Bruce went to his first home. Unfortunately his owner passed away due to a substance overdose and Bruce spent days next to the body prior to being found!
From there he went to the pound.
Another rescue took him on and got him out of the pound & into foster care, however the carer was not used to bigger dogs and he was locked outside....from there he moved to another foster carer with an old arthritic dog and Bruce - still being a 12 month old puppy - was far too energetic for the much older dog. Soooooo the rescue contacted us asking if we could help ....we said yes!
Eventually Bruce ended up in foster care with BRNA with a lovely family and their female boxer and they got along like a house on fire.
Bruce had a condition called cherry eye and we organised surgery to fix this, it is basically cosmetic. The ligaments of a gland under the eye are too loose so the gland pops out. All fixed now!
Then, our foster carer noticed that Bruce was limping and to cut a long story short, it was established that he suffered from a luxating patella (kneecap popping out). It is a condition often seen in little dogs, not as common in larger dogs. He definitely needed surgery and be kept quiet for at least 6 weeks afterwards!..This was an impossible task with the other dog around... so.... poor Bruce needed to move again.
Bruce is currently with a lovely foster carer who patiently nurtured him through the recovery time. With a few hiccups along the way as Bruce being the young, crazy boxer boy he is, was too excited and he blew a few pins! After some swelling, infection, antibiotics that as well is all fixed now.
Bruce is now on Beransa injections because he has arthritis in his knee, this will need to be continued (monthly injections about $120)
Now it is time for Bruce to find his final forever home!!
What our foster carer as to say about Bruce:
Bruce is a really sweet natured boy and has a happy disposition! He loves people and doesn't show any aggression towards other dogs. Bruce would thrive with a young family as he is very gentle, but probably not with toddlers as he can be a bit boisterous when he plays.
Bruce still pulls on the lead, as there was not much time for proper lead training due to his medical issues.
Bruce would love a place with a big yard for doing zoomies.
Who can resist this beautiful face?
