About Sir Lancelot SUK011518
Sir Lancelot LOVES others cats and is super playful. He would do best with a feline friend who doesn’t mind a lot of play. He can be affectionate and accepting of pats once settled but is quite timid in new situations. He doesn’t tolerate formal handling but can be lured into his carrier etc. using food. He loves dine paste.
This boy is energetic and will keep his people entertained once he’s feeling comfortable. He’d best suit an adult household with no children. He would love a cat friend to learn from and might be fine with a feline-friendly dog.
From his Foster Home -
How long did it take him to settle?
It took him about a week or two before he was ready to come out the crate and about 4 weeks in total before he accepted and then loved pats.
Did he enjoy playing with toys?
He absolutely loves to play, loves wand toys and cat trees (he's a climber). He will also busy himself, playing with stuffed and crinkle toys and loves catnip.
Did he ever scratch or bite during play, or while being touched?
He loves full body pats and gives a lot of headbutt's but picking him up or any other handling is still a no no.
Did he have any instances of inappropriate toileting in the home?
He is a champ with the litter tray.
Lance absolutely adores other cats so would love a friend to help tire him out and cause mischief. He is a water rat so be prepared for water puddles around the bowl.
Lance is a very handsome young lad that will make anyone laugh. He's got an adorable little meow and no matter what he's done, its impossible to stay mad at him (he also holds no grudges either).
Because Lance is such a foodie, enrichment feeders are a must, he's so smart! He loves snuffle mats and ones he gets to dig around to pull his dry food out of.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
