About Dakota

Dakota is a stunning almost 2-year-old long stock coat German Shepherd that has found herself homeless and, in the pound, due to no fault of her own. Dakota’s previous family no longer felt they had time for her and surrendered her to council, she was previously purchased on gumtree only a few months ago… this poor girl needs stability, someone committed to taking her in and to giving her a loving forever home.
Dakota is a friendly girl who loves meeting new people, she may jump up to say hello when she first meets someone new, but quickly calms down and is a polite, gentle girl. Dakota has previously lived with children and has even been known to walk nicely alongside a pram; she would suit most family dynamics so long as she is supervised with young children.
Dakota loves treats and happily engages in training to earn her reward, she knows her basic commands but would thrive with further obedience training to help her refine her skills and manners. Dakota gets excited when going for walks and will pull initially but soon settles in to walk nicely with her people. Like most young shepherds, Dakota is an active girl, she is looking for a family that will give her plenty of physical and mental stimulation and who will include her in family activities and adventures.
Dakota has tested well with other dogs, generally she is happy to hang out and walk past other dogs, however she can get a little frustrated sometimes and will let out a bark when she is unsure. Dakota may be happy living with a calm, large breed male dog, she would also be fine as the only pet in her new home. Dakota has not been tested with cats or other small pets.
Dakota has a very sweet temperament and will make a great family pet for someone willing to open their heart and home. Dakota would love to be allowed inside and included as part of the family, a big fluffy bed, a selection of toys and plenty of treats are all on Dakota’s wish list, she is dreaming of the day we can bust her out of the pound and take her to a home that will be for forever.
We need to move Dakota quickly, unfortunately the pounds are full and being a surrendered dog with no-one coming to get her, Dakota is the most at risk. We would love for Dakota’s next move to be her last, this beautiful girl deserves so much better than the cards she has been dealt, she is ready to become a permanent member of a family.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
