About Fergie
Fergie is a pocket rocket. She will take a few days to get used to a new person, but once she gains your trust, she will follow you around like a shadow. She is cheeky and fun, a little bit of a rascal but ever so innocent and sweet ;) She is affectionate and loves most humans, although can still be a little wary of larger men.
Ferg has come a long way in care, she was initially unsure of most things but gentle exposure to the big wide world has lead to her being much more confident. She arrived with little to no social skills around dogs but is now successfully living with two small dogs, big dogs are still a work in progress but with a family committed to ongoing training and socialisation, we feel she'll continue to improve and learn.
Fergie loves chicken and if you treat her with some boiled chook, she will love you forever! She is particularly good at catching treats whilst standing like a meercat and is even better at being a total lovebug.
MY IDEAL HOME: Fergie is looking for a chill home where she can kick up her paws and get loved on. She is still gaining confidence so will need someone committed to continuing this. She could live with another small, calm dog who will be patient as she learns 'how to dog'.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Fergie likes a brisk walk twice a day. She isn't too much of an athlete so doesn't require much more than that. She doesn't show interest in balls or other toys and she hasn't had much exposure to them. Fergie hasn't had much exposure to other dogs either so is only just starting to learn how to play at the park with them. She would prefer to greet the humans and get pats instead!
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Ferg loves children and will initiate pats and attention whenever she meets them, however she can get easily spooked by loud noises and sudden movements so is best with kids 10 and up who understand doggy body language a little.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Admittedly Fergie has very little social skills with dogs prior to coming into care, she took a little while to learn how to interact with her foster brothers but is now starting to initiate play. She could be suitable with another chill, small dog but is not suitable for a home with bigger dogs as she is still learning that they're not scary. She is not suitable for a home with cats.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
