About Ryder

Ryder is a gorgeous 2-year-old German Shepherd who has had a rough start to life, he was seized from a property, and then found himself homeless in the pound system, facing euthanasia due to over-crowding. Luckily for Ryder, we rescued him a month ago and he has been hanging out in foster care learning to trust and be happy, Ryder is now ready to find his very own forever home.
Ryder is a big goofball that just adores everyone he meets; this boy is incredibly friendly and will bounce up to you to say hello. Ryder is still working on his greeting manners and will sometimes jump up and slobber ALL OVER YOU! He needs to work on his manners and impulse control with his new family and is best suited to a home with children over 8 years old.
Ryder is still learning his name and at times, lacks the ability to focus for an extended time, he is still a young dog that has lived a sheltered life, everything is new and exciting, so he is distracted easily. Ryder LOVES treats and will do his best to impress for them, he is excellent at sitting and is practicing new skills every day. Ryder would benefit from daily training sessions with his humans, starting with basics such as focus tasks and games to build his confidence before moving into general obedience.
Ryder loves going for walks and pulls to sniff every tree and bush, he regularly checks in with his humans and walks much better on a front attach harness. Ryder can get a little over-excited out on walks and will sometimes bark at people and other dogs, not all the time. Ryder needs a confident handler that can help build his confidence with the outside world and continue to give him exposure and positive experiences.
Ryder has generally been good with other dogs whilst in care and was indifferent with them in the pound, he is happy to have a sniff and say hello but doesn’t like it when other dogs are vocal or tell him off and will react back to them. Ryder could possibly live with a large-breed female dog in his new home, he would also be ok as the only dog.
Ryder has not been tested with cats or other small pets.
Ryder is the sweetest boy that loves to cuddle and will collapse onto your feet for a belly rub, he settles well in his bed at night but will rearrange the blankets to make sure it is just right. Ryder hasn’t been destructive in foster care, nor has he been barking when left alone. Ryder is an easy dog to care for that is happy to chase bugs and butterflies in the garden all day, he is fascinated by even the smallest of creatures!
This big goofball is a complete love-bug who often doesn’t realise his size, he is incredibly affectionate and a little clumsy at times, he has an endearing charm about him that you can’t help but fall in love with his big smile.
After his rough start to life, Ryder is looking for someone to love him unconditionally and to appreciate his goofy antics, forced affection and slobber; he is wonderful dog that will be the most loyal companion to someone looking for a best friend.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
