About Penny STA011323
Penny came to us terrified and was not comfortable being in the shelter environment. We placed Penny into a quiet foster home where she has slowly started learning that humans can be kind and loving. Penny still has trust issues but has come a long way and now the time is right for her to find her own human/s to continue working with her earning her trust and love.
From Penny’s foster home –
Penny has enjoyed an indoor lifestyle with her foster family. She LOVEs other animals and would best suit a home with a calm friendly dog or friendly feline. Hanging out with her dog friend is the highlight of her day, she chirps and weaves around her 8 year old Golden Retriever foster sibling.
Penny was very frightened when she first arrived at her foster home and took a few weeks to feel comfortable in her new environment. Penny is not a cuddly cat, she doesn’t like being patted or picked up but loves to hang out nearby and enjoy the company of her humans. Baking in the sun coming through the window and playing with her toys are some of her favourite activities. Penny likes to be near her people without the pressure of physical interaction. She would love to be a companion for someone who respects her boundaries. Penny would enjoy having access to a cat tower with a scratching post where she can perch and enjoy keeping an eye on her new family.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
