Toast is the perfect package of love, adaptability, and charm and he is ready for a new home. He's an absolute dream boat & we think he's the bees-knees!
About Me: Toast may be a little shy he first meets you but please believe us when we tell you that he goes from zero to comfy in a matter of seconds. Toast is not only an independent boy; he's also a cuddle enthusiast. He'll gladly try to fit in your lap and be your cosy companion during those relaxing moments. He’s suitable for people who have owned dogs before.
Ideal Home: Toast is a well-rounded boy who is suitable for a myriad of homes. Whether your home is calm & quiet or busy & loud it doesn't matter because Toast will be able to adapt to you. Active an outdoorsy? No worries - Toast is keen if you are. He'd enjoy having the freedom to experience the best of both worlds when it comes to indoor and outdoor spaces. Indoors we are confident he'll happily sit with you & watch TV, or curl up and sleep the days away. Outside he'll be able to take in the sounds & smells of the world around him.
Yard size doesn't really matter either - small, medium or large - as long as those fences are high & secure to keep him safe when he's outside. Even if you live in a unit or apartment Toast would be suitable because he is very easy going with low energy requirements. He also doesn't bark which is ideal for smaller living spaces.
Family: Toast is open to meet kids from 10 years and up. Reason is, behind his low maintenance happy go lucky attitude, there is a slight (only slight) hint of shyness. We are unsure if he has ever been around kids before but just for now we would say kids need to be around 10 years or up. However if you have younger kids who have experience with shy dogs then please give us a call to discuss.
His gentle nature and agreeable temperament make him a fantastic addition for a family looking to add a dog to their circle. He’s suitable for both full-time and part-time workers.
Furry Friends: Toasts Dog 2 Dog assessment is pending.
And as we are unable to test we are unsure if Toast would be suitable to live with cats/pocket pets either.
Work Hard: No extensive training is necessary unless you'd like to engage in some fun, at-home activities with him. Toast is the kind of dog that doesn't need further training. However we would love to see him go to a home where at home training is done - not to teach him anything in particular - but just to ensure that he has something to look forward to. He loves treats & takes them gently & training with him is a great way to solidify that bond. It can also be very rewarding for you both.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play Hard: Toast's daily exercise needs are simple, requiring just 20-30 minutes of walking a daily or play time in the yard (just to keep his body healthy & mind active). Walking doesn’t have to be fast paced – a leisurely stroll will suit him just fine. He also walks perfectly on a lead.
He might be a bit unsure about toys, but he's always open to new experiences. Being an affectionate boy he really enjoys personal play with his humans & human interaction.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
