About Ziggy
💜 Beautiful Ziggy 💜
HOUSEHOLD- Meet this bundle of energy and snuggles Ziggy! She is the kind of dog who may need alittle bit of extra emotional support from her owners and would best suit a lifestyle where she can be included in all parts of life.
Ziggy could suit a variety of family situations but does require an owner with previous dog experience due to her need for continued dog socialisation and further obedience skills. She offers a nice balance of interactive, boisterous play and gentle snuggly affection and she has had some exposure with small children and showed no signs of issue thus far. Sadly, she is not designed for kennel living and would love to find her new forever home sooner rather than later.
ON-GOING TRAINING- Miss Ziggy is young and keen to learn. She responds well to food treats as a source of motivation and will benefit greatly from on-going obedience training to help improve her skills. She can already successfully sit and perform some recall on command but due to her stress in the kennels her lead manners need further work and her confidence in the big wide world needs further development too.
ON LEAD- Ziggy can be pully and strong when over stimulated, excited or anxious. When away from the facility she improves greatly on a long or short lead and with a new loving home and some consistency we are sure this will only continue to improve further.
PLAY/TOYS- Ziggy is very playful and always keen to interact if invited too. She enjoys water play (and may chase the hose), tug’o’war, chasey games and could benefit from some more refined play to help improve her impulse control and make her work harder mentally e.g hide and seek/find games.
OTHER DOGS- Ziggy does require on-going dog socialisation and support to determine her true doggie social skills but she is playful and keen to interact at heart. She may suit living with another well-socialised pup but at this stage would not suit a dog beach/park lifestyle straight out of the facility and only time will tell if she will in the future. A dog meet and greet is essential with any existing canine companions and living as an only dog may also be a suitable option.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- Ziggy has displayed no concerning behaviour towards our facility cats or birds etc seen on her walks. Further testing will be conducted at the facility to monitor her on-going behaviours towards other creatures and if there are smaller creatures in an interested home already options will be discussed at time of adoption.
CAR RIDES- In the car Ziggy was quite comfortable and entered and exited the car with ease. She was excited to be going somewhere and whilst abit nervous with any sudden noises or faster movements she adapted quickly and coped well.
CARE/GROOMING- Ziggy has shown herself to be very good with all over body handling and allows all really well. She is accepting of bathing, towel drying and basic grooming care. Due to her short coat she does not require complex maintenance but will require weekly brushing and monthly nail checks/trims to maintain overall health.
EXERCISE/NUTRITION- Due to her high-energy requirements and stress in the kennels Ziggy is currently being fed on a puppy based diet to help support stable weight gain/maintenance. She may only require an Adult diet once in a comfortable home setting but she could do with gaining a kilo or two more prior to a change over. She will best suit an energetic family or one who has the time to offer 1-2 walks daily along with games and mental stimulation challenges such as snuffle mats and puzzle bowls at home.
Ziggy is a one year old, Staffy X and her $500 adoption fee covers - microchipping, desexing, lifetime registration, current vaccination, flea and worming treatments.
