Profile and needs in a home
Buddy is a beautiful active small dog with lots of love and lots of energy.
Buddy was originally fostered with his brother Poncho who sadly passed away a few weeks ago. So, Buddy has had a lot of changes in his short 2 years of life.
Buddy is looking for another four-legged companion to keep him company when his new family are not at home, so Buddy must be rehomed with another friendly, active dog of similar size, to romp, play and snuggle. He's also very smart and would love to learn from you and his new canine companion! Buddy enjoys going outside for walks and exploring; he's walking much better on a harness but still needs ongoing training so an owner that can continue his training using positive/force-free training only is a must. An active home is also the best fit for Buddy.
He loves cuddling up on the couch at night and is happy to sleep in his bed on the lounge at night. A home where Buddy will be continued to cuddle on the couch and sleep inside on the lounge as he is used to in his foster home. Buddy would not be upset though if he could sleep in your bedroom on his bed at night.
Buddy will need a large garden as he loves exploring and running around the backyard and sunning himself in between walks and adventures.
Buddy will need a patient home who will give him time to settle into his new environment as his carers have done. Buddy will need owners that are not away from home for longer periods of time as he builds up his confidence in his new environment.
As is the case with all of our dogs, access inside at all times is a basic requirement.
As long as he has access to a secure garden or courtyard, Buddy can take himself outside to toilet as needed. His foster carers take him out for the toilet throughout the afternoon when we are home. Of course, your home will be a new environment for him so you must be prepared to set Buddy up to succeed in this regard.
Buddy is very good with children but can get excited when he sees new children. He will need to be reminded about jumping up however settles down quickly. He is currently in foster carer with children around 8yo so a home with kids over 8yo would be ok provided the children were kind and gentle with children.
His foster family say Buddy is a loving and sweet boy who will make a great addition to a loving home that will include him in their lives.
If you would like to meet Buddy please send us some information on yourself and the home you can provide including family members, your other dog and other pets if any, hours away from the home, where Buddy would go if you had to go away and could not take him with you, what areas of the home Buddy would have access, ability to cover vet expenses, commitment to ongoing training etc
