About Oscar
Hi! I’m Oscar and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR OSCAR
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/hj3AQ7HB1W9QU9cQ8
NOTE: You are unable to meet Oscar until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Oscar in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie playmate would be great, if not then lots of socialising with other dogs
• A cat may be ok with a slow introduction.
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• I have previously lived with children, preferably no young children as when I'm excited I get very bouncy and mouthy, older children who will be involved with my training should be ok.
• Doggy daycare and group socialisation classes would be highly beneficial for me.
• A family that will love and care for me during my twilight years
• A doggie companion is a MUST to keep me company when my family isn't home or a family that is home all the time. I suffer from separation anxiety which results in barking and possible destructive behaviours.
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Small children due to being mouthy & bouncy
My best features:
• Wiggle butt
• Highly food motivated
• I can sit
• I have had some basic obedience training and am a generally well-mannered dog
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• I know my basic doggie commands
• I walk well on lead
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I can be a bit bouncy -training should stop this
• I may show signs of anxiety when I'm left alone in the backyard. Leaving me some enrichment toys/treats may help this.
• I appear to be quiet vocal at times when left alone - a family who has a lot of time for me, allow me indoors and leave me with lots of mental enrichment when home alone is recommended
• As I have not been allowed inside before I am not housetrained yet
• I walk well on lead, unless I want to go in another direction, then I tend to pull harder
