About Daffy
Hi everybody, I'm Daffodil, known as Daffy aka Daff-Daff.
I'm a 2 year 3 month old Rodhesian Ridge back x girl
I've currently been living the farm life on acreage with my foster family whilst getting my vet work done and looking for my forever home.
I absolutely love having space to run and leap and get my ever so entertaining gallops on. I am incredibly athletic. I am never far from my humans and my foster mum says I have the best recall of any dog she's looked after and she's told me there's been quite a few!
I am completely toilet trained and hold on all night. I know how to sit, shake (when I feel like it) and am learning to wait for food or a toy. I am not a licker even of the kids food covered faces, I am way too polite for that. I do not jump up on people but I love to lean in for a pat.
I love to snuggle up on the couch or my bed and sleep soundly through the night.
I have been crated overnight when I arrived and didn't love it but managed ok.
When you wake up in the morning or get home from leaving me, I do the happiest dance! I get a smile on my face, wiggle from my nose to the tip of my tail and I practice my pretty ballerina dancing all around you. I just love you that much!
I have met horses, I got carried away and tried to chase one but my foster mum whistled me once and I came straight back.
I usually happily wait tied up outside the paddock when the animals are fed, mum doesn't want to risk me getting in the way.
I have met cows and was exceptionally well behaved, my foster family think I may have some background with cattle work or it's just very instinctual to me.
I do like to chase after the kids (3 and 7 years old) when they run and shriek and carry on like it's so much fun but a quick "stop" from them and I listen.
I love chasing the ball even if I don't always bring it back. I will gently drop it when asked. I also like to experiment and chew them into tiny pieces.
I am super gentle taking food treats from big and little humans.
I am learning to stay on my bed while my family eats and not ask for their delicious smelling food, although it's so tempting to vacuum up the crumbs the kids drop.
I do get a bit anxious when left alone, that's not my fault though as I haven't always known security. My foster mum wishes I could talk so that she could know more about my background. Someone has obviously loved me in the past and given me a good start to my education as my exceptional behaviour shows.
I have given my foster family a couple of heart attacks when I have been left inside whilst they were out and have learnt not only to open but also to unlock the sliding door! I had absolutely no desire to go anywhere and stayed looking after the house even without fences and only within days of arriving.
I haven't met cats but my foster mum thinks I'd be ok with a dog savvy cat but if it runs, I'd probably chase it because chasing is super fun. I'll even leap up high trying to catch magpies out of the air.
I have had some challenges with doggy companions in previous foster homes. I had two wonderful homes within a week which sadly didn't work out, before I came to crash here.
I don't think I'm aggressive, just a bit unsure of the right etiquette and I was uncertain about my place in the world. My foster mum has done some gentle, long leash introductions with distracting me when I got a bit too focused on the new dog so that I wasn't too rude. She says I listened well and made no attempt to bark, growl or anything like that so she thinks there's hope for me to have a non dominant friend with proper introductions (I promise I'll try and remember my manners). I'd love to have zoomies with a pup friend who doesn't make me feel threatened.
I was initially very shy meeting new people, especially men but I have met loads of them now and am learning more people mean more hands to scratch and pat me. I warm up very quickly and think meeting new humans is fun after all.
I love car rides and quietly curl up into a pretzel to watch the world go by.
But it's now time for me to find my forever home and as much as I'll miss my foster family, this is the road I must now take.
I'm really family orientated and will love and protect my family with my whole heart and soul,so if that's what you're looking for, then I'm the girl for you.plus my adoption fee has also been reduced in hope that it will help me find my forever home.
