About Jessie
Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- Have lots of love to give sweet Jessie
Jessie is a delight to foster as she is an easy going, friendly and well trained little girl. She will not go anywhere in the house without carrying a toy. Every morning she greets me with a waggy tail and a teddy in her mouth and each time I leave her to go shopping or run errands, I can see her asleep on her bed through my lounge room window as I return but she always runs to find a teddy to meet me at the door when I come in.
She has the odd playful, puppy moment jumping up and down throwing her teddies but other than that acts quite mature for a 4-year-old greyhound and like a true greyhound she enjoys spending most of her time at home snoozing in the sun where possible.
She knows her name and several commands and easily lets you know (by standing near the back/front door) when she needs to go to the toilet. She can get in and out of the car by herself.
She sleeps through the night quite happily and when she feels she’s ready for bed she will stand by the door waiting to be let into the room where she sleeps.
She enjoys her walks and after initially getting rather excited, she knows to stand still to be fitted into her harness. She loves going to the park and knows we go by car so will always steer me towards the garage (hoping for a car trip to the park) when we leave home, but she is also happy to wander in local streets. She loves to stop and sniff trees and copes fine with busy streets.
She has attended a couple of greyhound walks and walks along quite happily side by side with other greyhounds. She likes to sniff dogs and has no problem if a dog sniffs her but can be anxious, but in time should gain more confidence around other dogs.
She loves being stroked or brushed and will lean on you standing for hours long after your arm falls off from stroking her. She does not like to be left on her own at home for long periods of time, but can easily be left for up to 2-3 hours without an issue.
She is a lovely girl and I will miss her but it is time for her to find her forever home with someone living on their own or with an older family. She has a slightly reserved ladylike nature but is very loving and would be happiest with a family who is happy to stroke her and give her attention she enjoys.
[Note: Under Victorian Law greyhounds must be on-leash at all times in public areas, including in off-leash parks or ovals]
