Sherman is eagerly awaiting his forever home with someone who shares his enthusiasm for outdoor exploration and adventure.
About Me: Sherman is a charming artic breed mix. Experience with similar breeds will be a huge plus, as you'll understand his quirks and appreciate his distinct personality.
Sherman is a bundle of joy who loves human affection. He may jump when he's excited, but he's working on that. He'll gladly accept pats and cuddles as he wiggles with happiness.
Due to his arctic background the warmer months may be hard on him due to his double coat - so lots of shade, or access to air conditioned indoors or a dip in a pool would be ideal.
Ideal Home: Whether you live in a bustling household or a peaceful retreat, Sherman is up for the challenge. He’ll thrive in busy and loud settings as well as calm and quiet ones.
Sherman dreams of a home where he can freely access both indoors and outdoors. A medium to large yard with high secure fencing will keep him safe during his outdoor activities.
Family: Sherman is open to meeting kids of all ages. His friendly and outgoing nature makes him a great playmate for children.
Due to his fairly easy-going temperament he’d be suitable for part-time workers.
Furry Friends: We are unsure of Sherman’s compatibility with cats & pocket pets. His dog to dog assessment is also still pending.
Work Hard: Sherman is eager to please and enjoys learning new tricks. Post-adoption training, whether at home or with a professional, will help him become the best version of himself. Lead training should be on the to-do list - but he's a quick learner!
He knows how to sit and is ready to learn more commands. Keep those treats handy because he loves them & responds very well when treats are on offer.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play Hard: Active and outdoorsy? Sherman is your perfect partner for hikes and outdoor fun. At his young age, Sherman is bursting with energy and enthusiasm. He'd do well with daily walks and exercise sessions ranging from 30 to 60 minutes – shorter in warmer months.
Sherman has a very special fondness for water, so a clam pool would be great to allow him to splash around & cool off.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
