Buddy is a charming and adaptable boy who is ready to bring happiness and love (and a lot of laughs) to your life. Whether you're a seasoned dog owner or a newbie to the world of doggo parenthood, Buddy is the perfect fit for your home.
About Me: While Buddy might be a tad shy when meeting new people, it doesn't take him long to warm up. Once he does, he becomes an independent and agreeable partner in crime, ready to join you on any adventure!
When left alone, Buddy knows how to keep himself occupied. He's a smart boy who enjoys staying busy with toys and naps.
Above all, Buddy is a gentle and affectionate soul who craves human interaction. He's ready to shower you with love, loyalty, and countless tail wags.
Ideal Home: Buddy would thrive in various home environments, whether they are bustling with activity or peaceful and quiet. To truly make the most of his adventurous spirit, Buddy would flourish with free access to both indoor and outdoor spaces. A medium to large yard with high secure fencing would be his dream come true, allowing him to explore, play, and enjoy the great outdoors safely.
Family: He's the ultimate family dog, open to meeting kids of all ages and being a loving addition to your household.
If your kiddos are into sports, Buddy is your biggest fan! He loves chasing after a soccer ball and is always up for a match.
He would be an excellent dog for both part-time and full-time workers.
Furry Friends: We are unsure about his interactions with cats and pocket pets. His dog to dog assessment is still pending.
Work Hard: He's a quick learner and already knows his name, as well as basic commands like "sit" and "stay". He’s happy to engage when there are treats on offer. Digging is one of the reasons that he ended up in our care. To curb his enthusiasm for digging, Buddy would benefit from post-adoption training, either one-on-one or with a professional. We suspect his digging habits may have arisen from a lack of enrichment in his previous home - a designated dig spot (clam pool filled with sand or dirt) is a great alternative.
Buddy adores treats and is currently working on his treat-taking manners. With a little patience and consistency, he'll master this skill in no time.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play Hard: Buddy is a well-rounded companion with moderate energy requirements. He enjoys his daily exercise, which can be satisfied with walks ranging from 30 to 60 minutes. And he walks beautifully on a lead.
Puzzle and treat toys would be great for this smart cookie, perfect for stimulating his sharp mind and providing hours of fun.
Post-Adoption Life:With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
