My name is Wren:) my sister Finch & I came into care when our breeder could no longer look after us.
Since coming into care I've been a dream to care for; my foster carer has worked hard on giving my a great start to life. I like to spend my days and nights playing, napping and eating alongside my furry foster siblings. I currently live with a large breed dog and a medium and get along with both. I can be a little shy and unsure at first but in just a few minutes I've warmed up and decided to be brave and make friends. I'm learning the ropes and have been exposed to many new things since being in care such as baths, car rides, and basic training. In my forever home, I would love to get out for an adventure each week, to run sniff and roll, and would love to go on daily walks/runs with you!
The commands I am learning are sit, wait, down, stay, here, inside, outside, and I am also crate trained and working on my leash skills. I sleep outside at night in an enclosed area, and haven't had many accidents inside. I am a very playful and happy dog who needs someone who will continue my training and give me lots of affection. My expected adult weight is 25-30kg.
I would like to be behind a 5ft fence or higher so that as I grow, I am not tempted to escape the yard. Being a young dog, I am going to grow up however you allow me to- so it's important to spend your early weeks with me getting my routine and training down-pat. I am a smart pup who is a keen learner and will make you very happy! I definitely need a dog friend, and an owner who can work with me on my confidence as I don't like being apart from my owners yet. I will need an experienced owner who won't bail at the first hiccup we go through together; change is hard for us all, especially a growing pup learning a whole new life! I want an owner/family I can really bond with and trust, and in return I will give a life time of loyalty, fun and affection. I would thrive with crate and place training if you'd like to do this.
So what do you think? Could I be the one for you? Apply to adopt me now.
Ps- feel free to change my name if you adopt me; most dogs learn new names fast.
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Apply here after reading below:- Adoption Application: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OTCadoptionapp
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home or in a public place. If you have other animals they should please be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC immediately and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area so OTC can cover any treatment needed. At the completion of your adoption trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract and relevant vet documents.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox should you want an update on your application.
