Sweet Margaret is looking for a family to spoil her rotten for the rest of her life. She is an easy going girl that wants nothing more than good food, a short walk around the block, the odd adventure and lots of cuddle time on the couch. She is currently in foster with many other dogs and is happily coexisting with them though did need slow introductions to the males and hasn’t shown any interest in playing. She would be content with or without a doggie friend. She would love someone home a fair bit as she looks to her humans for a lot of guidance, she will happily follow you around, sit at your feet while you walk and stand in the way when you try to get through the hallway. Margaret would prefer a quieter home with older children.
When Margaret came into starting over dog rescues care she was quite unwell, we were preparing to put her into our palliative foster care program. But with some TLC, good food and time her health amazingly improved. She was able to get her large mammary tumours removed though they were unable to preform a proper mammary strip. These tumours have come back as low grade cancer, it’s unlikely the cancer has spread but it may regrow in her mammary tissue if there are cancer cells remaining. At the moment Margaret is happy and pain free and we expect her to remain so for many months or even years.
Medical notes
Medical - low grade mammary cancer, possible cognitive decline, arthritis in hips (plus a couple of age related issues, cataracts and dental disease
The vet has advised that no further treatment is required aside from managing her symptoms and keeping her comfortable to enjoy her retirement
SODR will cover the cost of symptom management if one of our approved vets is used.
