About Summer
Please meet affectionate and sweet-natured Summer, a 7 yo Kelpie "Super Mum" born on 14 December 2015.
Summer is one of our very special dogs and we know her well. She came into care, heavily pregnant and with an injured and sightless left eye.
Summer delivered a fine litter of pups and spent the next two months doing what she does best - raising pups. As Summer had been a breeding machine all her adult life, we estimate this litter was her fifteenth.
But for this devoted Super Mumma there will be no more puppies. She has been desexed and her wonky left eye has been removed and the lid sewn shut. Now it's Summer's time to shine!
(NOTE: The eyelid sutures were removed after some of these photos were taken.)
We are looking for a home for Summer where she will be an integral part of the family. She loves her humans, bonds quickly and will make a devoted and loyal companion dog.
Summer is an inside-outside dog, but is probably more relaxed outside because that's what she's used to. She is completely house-trained and enjoys a snooze on the couch. She loves food and has been known to help herself to tasty morsels left on the kitchen bench!
As you can see from the video where she's playing with her best mate Zeus, Summer loves other dogs, but a proper introduction is recommended to ensure the dogs get off on the right paw. Summer and Zeus happily share bones, which is what good buddies do.
She has had little to do with young children and, being sightless in one eye, is unsettled by sudden movements and noises on her blind side. She would be fine with teenagers and would do best in the hands of a more experienced dog lover.
Clever and eager to please, Summer walks quite nicely on the lead, but again is unsettled by noise and activity on her blind side.
If you think you could provide Summer with the home she deserves, please complete the online application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/.
Interstate adoptions are welcome with a virtual meet and greet offered to approved applicants.
Summer is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped and available for adoption from Warwick, Queensland.
Medical notes
Summer has tested negative to heartworm.
