About Biscuit

Lovely Biscuit (or Bisky at home) is a gorgeous, fluffy grey lad on the hunt for his purrfect match! After an early start to life as a street cat, he came into Maggie's care and quickly started to thrive - transformed from a shy, nervous boy into a confident and chatty kitty by lots of pats, treats and patience :)
Biscuit's leisurely days now consist of hours lounging about on the couch or in the sun, keeping himself entertained by racing around and exploring, or sometimes just by chasing his own tail (he's still getting used to cat toys!), and watching TV. One of his favourite activities is curling up next to his foster humans and gazing raptly at the on-screen action until he eventually falls asleep.
Like all Maggie's pets, Biscuit is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... will be nice and quiet, preferably with adults as I'm still getting used to living with humans! I can take some time to settle in but I will come around with a bit of patience and some Bisky's! I am good with other cats too so a cat friend would be great.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I spend most of my day wandering around my carers' home, or napping in the sun. I like to play too, either with a laser pointer or just by myself!
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Children of at least school age (5+) might be OK, but little kids are probably a bit scary for me.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I did grow up on the streets with other cats, so I'd likely do fine with a friendly feline or three for company. I have been in foster care with another kitty and we got on well - I liked his company!
I haven't met any dogs at this stage but I think I'd prefer not to live with one.
Medical notes
Biscuit has early signs of HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY:
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a heart disease characterized by abnormal thickening of the muscular walls of the heart. The thickened heart muscle becomes stiff and does not relax normally, impairing cardiac function. This can cause increased pressure within the heart and secondary cardiac enlargement.
HCM is a progressive disease, and Biscuit may be at risk of developing cardiac complications in the future.
The long-term prognosis for HCM is highly variable, especially at this stage of the disease process. Studies show that approximately 23% of cats diagnosed with HCM develop major cardiac complications and experience cardiac-related death within 5 years of diagnosis. However, many cats with HCM never develop complications from their heart disease.
The current risk of cardiac complications is low. However, in the future as the disease progresses it would be appropriate to monitor Biscuit for labored breathing, collapse, and sudden hindlimb paralysis.
Mangement: A recheck echocardiogram is recommended in 9 months to monitor for disease progression and determine if cardiac medications are indicated at that time.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
