About Oscar Jar Jar
Hi. My name is Oscar Jar Jar an im a tall.lean shaggy love machine,
I am a friendly, cheeky 10 month-old staghound x who loves people and other doggos.
Although I'm only 30 kilos in a tall typical Staghound build with Giraffe legs and a heart of solid gold.
I have been living in a house with teenage children and love to play tug o war, chase, ball games but then also I love to have down time chill on the couch with you too
I am a goofy but gentle boy who will forget my manners occasionally and jump up for a hug so we feel young children will not be suitable in my new home as i might accidentally knock them over.
I arrived at my foster home. I fitted in straight away like I've lived here all of my life and yup I have officially taken over the couchâŠ. I very much enjoy being an inside dog but also happy to spend some time outside as long as I have something to keep me entertained. I like snuggling on the couch having down time during the day to just nap
PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM AND JUNK FOLDERS FOR YOUR APPLICATION TO COMPLETE ONCE YOU HAVE SENT YOUR ENQUIRY FORM.
Favorite things
Oscar's favorite things are zoomies around the yard, going for a walk and hanging with his hoomans. Although Oscar Jar Jar can be a couch potato he is still a young boy so needs plenty of toys to keep him busy.
Interaction with people
Oscar can be a little shy meeting new people but soon warms up. Given he is still a puppy he is learning to keep all four paws on the ground. He's a smoochy boy who loves giving kisses and can be a little mouthy when excited so a dog savvy family is a must. He has great potential with continuing his training. We feel he is going to become a wonderful gentle boy as he matures into adulthood
Interaction with other animals
Oscar displays great social skills around other dogs and likes to engage in play and chase. He is not overly focused on other dogs when walking, will walk past without much pulling to say hello
He has been tested with cats and does want to chase so no cats or pocket pets in his new home .
Walking on Lead
Oscar Jar Jar walks well on a halti, obediently stopping at roads. He very rarely pulls on the lead.
Obedience and training
Oscar is most motivated when given praise and cuddles rather than being treated motivated for rewards. Oscar will sit for his food, can an drop, knows that his lead means a walk to the park
Car
Travels well in the car but does need encouragement to get in.
Food
Oscar is currently eating dry food (twice a day) Oscar will sit and wait to be given his meals. He is gentle taking treats
As he is a tall puppy, he will sniff and steal the occasional food from your kitchen bench if you leave it out as he can reach lol
Enrichment
As Oscar is still young he still chews the odd thing so lots of enrichment toys and exercise is important for him. He likes to keep himself busy. He would benefit from a female playful and energetic of med to large breed companion
Oscar Jar Jar loves a cows hoof and a bone along with his toys if to be left alone outside during the day while his humans are at work
Oscar Jar Jar spent weekend in a home with another playful dog while in our care and he had the time of his live playing chase and catch me if you can
Oscar has been exposed to noisy roads, children from 9-teens
Hygiene and toileting
Oscar has a beautiful grey wiry coat which needs a regular brush. He doesnât seem to shed much hair which is great. He has had a couple of accidents inside, not uncommon in new environments. If I taken outside in the morning and night the accident have been minimal
Sleep
Oscar has found his sleeping spot on the couch to be the most comfortable but has also spent the odd night outside.
IDEAL HOME: / ADOPTION CRITERIA -PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING
Oscar Jar Jar is a higher energy dog and will require lots of stimulation and exercise
A home with a good size large backyard with grass, shelter, and secure fencing. We request you do not apply if you are in a unit or terrace with a small yard as this will just lead to disappointment as we will not adopt this breed into that situation.
A home with or without children, they must be dog savvy mature children
A home with or without another dog.If another dog is in residence already we seek a Female of medium to large size who is well socialized and loves to play hard
A daily walk is a must
A lot of love and training is essential as this beautiful boy has huge potential to be amazing in the right hands.
Oscar Jar Jar should be welcomed as part of the family and not just left on his own in the backyard all the time. His new family should dedicate time to continue his training
