Is there a big, loveable, dog-shaped hole in your life? Then look no further - meet Karhu, the sweetest teddy bear of a dog you could ever hope to meet.
Made of equal parts sugar and spice and all things nice, all Karhu wants is to be close by you (and preferably asleep) & cuddled whenever the opportunity arises.
She meanders slowly (like very, very slowly) on her halter lead during her walks. Though at 35kg and likely still growing, if she gets excited at the prospect of meeting a new friend she will definitely throw that weight behind getting over to that potential new friend. So ideally her new home will be with someone with big dog experience (and strength).
Still being in her puppy era, this chilled, sweet girl will benefit greatly from obedience & socialisation classes to ensure she’s set up to succeed. She’s always eager to please but slow to move on command.
Karhu is in every way a low energy kinda gal. Her default activity is snoozing. Snoozing on the couch, snoozing on her bed, snoozing on your bed (if she gets the chance), snoozing at your feet, snoozing in the sun, snoozing on you. The most energy she exerts in her day to day life, is with the whole body wiggles of excitement she greets you with.
We aren’t sure she ever had toys of her own in her previous life, but we’ve been working hard at teaching her how to play with them. Currently she prefers to chew a stick or carry around a slipper.
Karhu is a chilled out, sweet natured girl, but she doesn’t love being left home alone for long periods - something we have been working on while she’s been in care. She seems to do better outside when alone and will veg by the door until you are back. Given she is still a puppy, we are confident that with the right new humans, she can learn that being home alone isn’t as sad as she currently finds it.
Ideally her new owner would be home more often than not, particularly at the start, to help her transition into her new home.
She is a gentle giant with everyone (we suspect she is still growing) but can throw her weight around in excitement, so we feel older kids are more suited, than little ones that can be knocked around by her enthusiastic wiggles and kisses.
Always keen to meet new friends, Karhu approaches dogs eagerly and is keen for a sniffle and play if the mood is right. She has met a cat through a glass door before and was curious and didn’t bark or jump at it, but we can’t say how she would go face to face.
Think you could be Karhu’s new cuddle companion? We’d love to hear from you!
