About Billy
Billy is a fun-loving, pocket rocket who is looking for his forever home. Our gorgeous boy is almost 2 years old and recently found himself abandoned in the pound due to no fault of his own, Billy has been in foster care the last few months and is now ready to find a family of his own!
Billy loves to love, he adores meeting new people and is super happy to be greeted by everyone, Billy is incredibly affectionate with his humans and loves nothing more than to snuggle on the couch or bed. Billy will jump up for a cuddle and just stand there, paws wrapped around you whilst you give him a pat, this boy is a love-bug that will follow you everywhere.
Billy is an active boy with energy to burn, he loves to play and train for treats and will need an active family who are willing to take Billy out on adventures and keep him physically and mentally stimulated. Billy would love to get involved in dog sports such as agility, tracking or flyball – he is eager to learn and loves doing different activities.
Billy is still young and needs to work on his manners, when he is overstimulated, he will jump up and seek reassurance from his humans, he is best suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 8.
Billy knows his basic commands but will need to work on his leash skills, he pulls hard on lead and will need an owner capable and willing to teach Billy how to walk nicely. Billy would thrive working with a trainer, he has been currently attending group obedience classes and is making great progress, he is motivated by both food and toys and responds well to consistent boundaries and routine.
Billy is very conflicted around other dogs; he wants to interact with them but is unsure how and will bark and make a scene when he initially sees another dog. Billy has lived with another dog and plays very rough, his doggy manners need some work so that he can appropriately greet others, he will need to work on his socialisation and exposure to other dogs overtime.
For now, Billy is best suited to being the only dog in his new home whilst he learns some manners and how to ‘dog’. Billy is untested with cats and other small pets but would likely chase them if given the opportunity.
Billy loves to play with his humans, a good game of tug and fetch are the way to this boy’s heart, he is a true ‘people dog’ and just wants to be with his humans doing whatever they are doing. Billy would love a life full of adventures but is also a chilled-out boy within the home happy to snooze around and cuddle.
Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
