About Jack

**********
Please meet Jack, a very handsome 2 yo Koolie with a sweet and affectionate temperament and a distinctive, speckled, merle coat with dilute red highlights. His longish hair and bushy tail complete a very attractive picture.
And at 17kgs, he is the perfect size for indoor cuddles and outdoor adventures.
Although a tiny bit shy to begin with, Jack quickly warms up and loves getting to know new people. Our photographer fell hopelessly in love with him - and she maintained the affection was returned! He certainly wagged his tail a lot when she was around. The photos were taken on 25 August at the vet after he'd been desexed.
Koolies are well known for being very child-friendly and there is no reason to think this sweet, mild-mannered boy will be any different, although he's had no interaction with children since being in care.
Not as well-known as the Kelpie and the Australian Cattle Dog, the Koolie is one of the oldest breeds of working dogs in Australia. Active, clever, dedicated and patient, they make great pets for an active individual or family.
In addition, their intelligence and alertness make them suitable for activities such as agility or herding. With appropriate training, we believe Jack would make an ideal assistance dog.
To be healthy and content, he will need plenty of mental stimulation and exercise, so a generous backyard and a compatible canine buddy for self-exercise would be ideal.
Jack is very dog-friendly. We have tested him with cats and he was very respectful.
If you are interested in meeting him, please complete the online application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ and kindly include photos of your yard and fencing.
Preference will be given to a home where someone is around most of the time.
Medical notes
Jack was desexed on 25 August 2023.
He tested negative to heartworm in mid-August 2023.
