About Patty
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT FLY OUR PETS IN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Patty
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: The 5 puppies were born in our care
BREED: Shar Pei x
Shar Pei Breed Traits:
Originally bred to guard, hunt, herd and fight the Shar Pei is now a companion dog. A calm, independent thinker, sometimes aloof she is a good watch dog and guard dog and devoted to her family. Early training is essential to counter her stubborn strong will and socialisation with humans and dogs absolutely must begin early. Due to her short nose she is prone to overheating so needs to be an inside dog. ********************************************************************************
ASSETS: Patty is a loving ball of fun, energy and sass! She is bubbly, friendly and loyal.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Patty enjoys playing with her siblings, she is confident and loves to bounce around and take on her brothers. She loves a good chew toy and will happily sit near you with her toy and chew away and is learning what fun fetch is. She is a typical puppy with bursts of energy where she plays for a while then settles down with her siblings or person for a snooze before waking up and doing it all over again!
ENDEARING FEATURES: Patty is very confident and energetic. She loves to play but also loves to come around for cuddles and kisses afterwards and will fall asleep in your lap.
OTHER ANIMALS: Being a young puppy, she will get on well with other friendly dogs after gentle, supervised introduction. She is being fostered with a cat and is learning respect!
GENERAL INFO: Patty will bark to get attention and loves to explore with her mouth (chew) so will need plenty of toys and play to keep her entertained and out of trouble. Housetraining is improving by the day and she has almost mastered it. Expect accidents while she's settling into her new home and routine! She'll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes into adulthood where she can mix with other dogs, and there is a commitment we will expect from her new owner. We expect these pups to be medium sized when fully grown - but there are no guarantees.
ESSENTIALS for Patty:
** an active, loving home where someone is there for most of the day, essential in the first six months after adoption
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden where she can run, play, sniff and explore
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for him to learn and grow confidence
** daily walks/playtime to keep him happy and healthy
Patty will have bursts of energy while a pup and we envisage will be medium energy as an adult dog.
Patty could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 10 years of age who will play and interact with her appropriately but know when to give her space.
If Patty sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
