About Mr Rex
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT FLY OUR PETS IN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Mr.Rex
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: The 5 puppies were born in our care
BREED: Shar Pei x
Shar Pei Breed Traits:
Originally bred to guard, hunt, herd and fight the Shar Pei is now a companion dog. A calm, independent thinker, sometimes aloof he is a good watch dog and guard dog and devoted to his family. Early training is essential to counter his stubborn strong will and socialisation with humans and dogs absolutely must begin early. Due to his short nose he is prone to overheating so needs to be an inside dog.
********************************************************************************
ASSETS: Mr.Rex is a sweet and slightly shy boy. He is very gentle and likes to play with his siblings and other puppies. He does love a good chat and under his sweet exterior, he is just a big softie inside.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Mr.Rex enjoys playing with his siblings, chasing balls and having a really good sniff around the garden. He loves lying in the sun for a snooze being with his carer. He is a typical puppy with bursts of energy where he plays for a while then settles down with his siblings or person for a snooze before waking up and doing it all over again!
ENDEARING FEATURES: Mr.Rex is very loving and a little unsure of new situations which is most endearing. He is quite a cuddle monster.
OTHER ANIMALS: Mr Rex has been introduced to other puppies and has been a little shy to start but soon gains confidence as he wants to play. In a previous foster home he lived with cats and was curious but most respectful.
GENERAL INFO: Mr.Rex will bark to get attention and can be quite vocal. He will need training for pretty much everything being so young. Housetraining is coming on really well and has almost mastered it. Expect accidents while he's settling into his new home and routine! He'll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes into adulthood where he can mix with other dogs, and this is a commitment we will expect from his new owner. We expect these pups to be medium sized when fully grown - but there are no guarantees.
ESSENTIALS for Mr.Rex:
** an active, loving home where someone is there for most of the day, essential in the first six months after adoption
** a home where he is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as he needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden where he can run, play, sniff and explore
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for him to learn and grow confidence
** daily walks/playtime to keep him happy and healthy
Mr.Rex will have bursts of energy while a pup and we envisage will be medium energy as an adult dog.
Mr.Rex could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 10 years of age who will play and interact with him appropriately but know when to give him space.
If Mr.Rex sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
