About Daisy
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT FLY OUR PETS IN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Daisy
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: The 5 puppies were born in our care
BREED: Shar Pei x
Shar Pei Breed Traits:
Originally bred to guard, hunt, herd and fight the Shar Pei is now a companion dog. A calm, independent thinker, sometimes aloof she is a good watch dog and guard dog and devoted to her family. Early training is essential to counter her stubborn strong will and socialisation with humans and dogs absolutely must begin early. Due to her short nose she is prone to overheating so needs to be an inside dog.
********************************************************************************
ASSETS: Daisy is the cutest ray of sunshine and will brighten your day! She is persistent, inquisitive and loving.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Daisy enjoys playing with her siblings, she loves to rough and tumble and will get right in there with the crazy boys. She is inquisitive and loves to explore the backyard and learn new tricks - she is often the first to come when called. She is a typical puppy with bursts of energy where she plays for a while then settles down with her siblings or person for a snooze before waking up and doing it all over again!
ENDEARING FEATURES: Daisy is very confident, energetic and determined. She loves people and loves to master new things. If encouraged correctly, she should enjoy training.
OTHER ANIMALS: Being a young puppy, she will get on well with other friendly dogs after gentle, supervised introduction. She could live with a dog-savvy, confident cat, again after a gentle introduction.
GENERAL INFO: Daisy will bark to get attention and is still a very young puppy so will need training in all areas. Housetraining is underway but she still has some way to go to master it. Expect accidents while she's settling into her new home and routine! She'll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes into adulthood where she can mix with other dogs, and this is a commitment we will expect from her new owner. We expect these pups to be medium sized when fully grown - but there are no guarantees.
ESSENTIALS for Daisy:
** an active, loving home where someone is there for most of the day, essential in the first six months after adoption
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden where she can run, play, sniff and explore
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for her to learn and grow confidence
** daily walks/playtime to keep her happy and healthy
Daisy will have bursts of energy while a pup and we envisage will be medium energy as an adult dog.
Daisy could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 10 years of age who will play and interact with her appropriately but know when to give her space.
