About Derek
A stunning black and white combo of a Stumpy Tailed Cattle Dog and a Border Collie, Derek is a big old ball of love and energy. At around 5 years old, he is still full of beans and likes to play chasey and ball. Derek loves nothing more than pats and cuddles at the end of the day and has quickly become his Foster Mum’s shadow.
Derek is well house trained, often curling up on the couch by his humans side. He sleeps peacefully inside overnight and is partial to a sleep in here and there. This little chonky man is a pro at sit and wait, but is still learning other commands. He is very good on a lead and is working on his recall so daily walks and adventures are a must for Derek to continue progressing his skills.
Derek absolutely adores people, and is searching for a loyal companion to spend every day with. While he is friendly with other dogs, he would much prefer to be a solo furry friend for his new family. Derek will most likely thrive in any living environment, whether it be rural or suburban, but has not been tested with livestock or farm friends to our knowledge.
Derek is still learning his commands and to not jump up, so he would be best suited to a home with older children. He can also be a little excitable and loves his zoomies! Derek will also benefit from continued mental and physical stimulation so a family with experience of working dogs would be best for him.
If you are looking for a cuddly, loyal best buddy, he may be your guy!
Derek is located in VIC.

You can also write out your answers and email them to dogs@dogs4jobs.com.au

We will then request to complete a yard check, or for you to send in photos of your yard showing the fencing, space, shelter and any hazards etc, to confirm it is safe and secure, as well as adequate space for a working breed dog.
Following this, we will then put you in touch with the dog/s foster carer/s that you are interested in, to chat further over the phone, about whether the dog is a good fit for your family, and vice versa.
