About Reggie
💙 Introducing Reggie 💙
HOUSEHOLD- This handsome young man is ready and waiting for his new forever home. He is as cute as he is sweet and continues to win hearts with every new person that he meets. He is a young energetic boy who would best suit an active household who is willing to include him in as many family activities as possible. He has shown himself to be social with adults and children and we will continue to further test his socialisation as he stays with us at the facility.
ON-GOING TRAINING- Reggie will benefit from on-going basic obedience training, lead training and further socialisation in the big wide world. He is young and appears to have had no formal training prior to this point but is responding well to staff and volunteers and loves his food treats as a reward/source of motivation.
ON LEAD- Reggie can be abit pully on the lead when he is over excited but, he is improving each day as he settles more and more into the daily routines. He responds well to handler interaction and verbal comments that will only improve with time and a dedicated owner. He works well on a long or short lead.
PLAY/TOYS- Reggie is a playful boy and is keen to interact and play with a variety of toys when given the chance. He will thrive with an owner who is happy to interact and play with him daily promoting his physical and mental health.
OTHER DOGS- Reggie came into the facility with limited canine social skills. He showed great confidence for his age but was not well skilled with introducing himself to other dogs. Thankfully he has come a long way meeting and greeting many canine companions and displaying playful, social behaviours that continue to improve with time. He would best suit a canine companion who can keep teaching him the proper doggie social cues & manners to become a great member of canine society.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- Reggie was nervous when he initially entered the cattery area. The cats hissing at him was abit overwhelming and he was much keener to leave the area than hang around to find out what would happen next. We will do further testing to confirm how he may go living with a cat or small pocket pet whilst he is at the facility.
CAR RIDES- Reggie can be alittle nervous when he first gets into the car but copes well once he is inside. He easily becomes excited with handler interaction and is keen to explore his new destination once the car stops.
CARE/GROOMING- Reggie will require basic regular grooming care. This may include weekly brushing, monthly bathing (or whenever he gets dirty) and regular nail checks to keep him in tip top condition. He has shown no signs of long-term health issues or allergies at the current time.
EXERCISE/NUTRITION- Reggie has energy to burn and will require an active family who can offer him 1-2 walks/runs daily combined with mental and physical games in the backyard. To support all this energy burning, Reggie will require a puppy-based diet up until a minimum of 1 year of age. He currently eats 3 meals a day and is holding his weight at a constant level.
Reggie is a 6 month old Staffy X currently located at our Charmhaven Shelter. His $550 adoption fee covers- microchipping, desexing, lifetime registration, current vaccination, flea and worming treatments.
