About Loxy
💙 Senior Boy Loxy 💙
HOUSEHOLD- Introducing Loxy! A fluffy little gentleman who is currently looking for his future retirement home where he can live out his next chapter of life surrounded by love and companionship. He is a super social, sweet boy who would be best suited to an adult only household due to his age and current health needs.
ON-GOING TRAINING- In Loxys’ case the saying ‘You can’t teachan old dog new tricks’ is simple not true because he can absolutely still learn new skills and would only need further basic obedience, lead training and possible indoor toilet training if an owner was really wanting too. The indoor toilet training at this stage has been hard to gauge due to the pound environment but has been seen to cope well with crate training and will go immediately outside when given the opportunity to do so, so all signs are looking good.
ON LEAD- Loxy loves his walks and while he can be a bit pully at times to get where he wants to go he will settle given time and is not a very strong puller so he is easy to control. He is best walked on a chest harness and lead rather than a collar.
PLAY/TOYS- Loxy can be playful in his interactions with handlers but he does not appear to focus on one style of play just yet. He does prefer to get out and explore or socialise with other dogs rather than play with toys.
OTHER DOGS- Loxy is a super social boy. Every dog he has met thus far whether they are large or small has taken to his charms and become his friend. From what we have seen he would be suitable to live with another canine companion and appears to thrive on the ability to do so. A meet and greet would be necessary to make sure any new canine housemates get along well.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- So far, Loxy has been pleasant to all other creatures he has met. It is a bit limiting here at the facility to know for sure how he would go living with a cat or other small animal but it would be something we could discuss further at the time of his adoption.
CAR RIDES- Loxy quite enjoys the car especially if the window is open and he can feel the wind on his face. Due to his height and the design of the car, he may try to stand on the door to reach the window so a protective cover on the seat/side may be necessary to protect the car from his nails or any damage.
CARE/GROOMING- Loxy has on-going health issues that will require maintenance over his lifetime. His skin and eyes are of particular interest and his entire medical needs will be discussed at the time of his potential adoption. Grooming wise, he enjoys a trip to the groomer for a light trim, bath and nail clip. He does become a bit stressed when his nails are being clipped so it is best left to a professional to complete this task.
EXERCISE- Loxy has an energetic spirit but he will only require gentle regular exercise, 1-2 walks daily, and the freedom to be involved in many of lifes’ activities as possible.
NUTRITION- Loxy will need to be on a senior/mature or sensitive skin diet to help maintain good health. Joint supplements could also be beneficial, as he gets older to avoid any arthritic problems fromdeveloping.
Loxy is a 10 year old, Bichon Frise and currently at our Charmhaven Shelter. His $390 adoption fee covers - microchipping, desexing, lifetime registration, current vaccination, flea and worming treatments.
If you think Loxy is the dog for you then please complete an adoption application online and we will be in touch.
