Hi friends, my name is Blanco!
I am a very social, happy and snuggly boy with the most beautiful blue eyes you've ever seen! I came to the rescue when my owner had to move home short notice and couldn't find anywhere they could take me with. It was a hard choice for them because I am such a great cat! I am beautiful with the human kids here, as well as the other cats, and even the dog!
I'm a chunky boy, weighing 7.5kg. I am inside-only at the moment and happy with that. I am a playful and cuddly boy who loves to laze on the couch with you or nap in front of a window whenever I'm not playing with the other pets or my favourite toys. I have a little snore that is very sweet! I am very well house/litter trained and used to a family who is out during the day, and a loud and busy house hold at night (3 small kids, dogs, cats and 2 adults in my foster home); I just hang out with the other animals and keep myself busy napping and climbing our cat tower.
I have allergic dermatitis so am on an affordable daily medication which manages it wonderfully. More information on this is in my medical notes. I'd fit well into almost any family- could that be yours?
Medical notes
Blanco has allergic dermatitis currently being treated at $1.35/day with an oral medication. He is otherwise well- there are no signs of gastrointestinal or upper respiratory tract disease. We took Blanco to a dermatology specialist in August 2023 where he was tested and future treatment options discussed. The problem does not appear to be better or worse at any particular time of year, and is currently being treated with compounded cyclosporine 25mg once daily. This medication costs $1.35/day and has made a massive impact - it keeps Blanco comfortable and happy and he's a good boy and happily takes his medications. Blanco is not on a special diet and eats regular adult cat food, wet and dry.
The following is some more information from the specialist to give adopters an option should they not want to continue daily cyclosporine. Long term allergic dermatitis can be controlled using desensitising immunotherapy (colloquially known as vaccine) following intradermal allergen testing ($695) OR by continuing with some form of symptomatic therapy (which will be required lifelong). If this is not possible he will need to continue with cyclsporine but the dose could be increased to 50mg as
the current dose is quite low.
Adoption details
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the cats. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the cat at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the cat get along- you have the option of either taking the cat on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the cat on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the cat, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold cats for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the cat, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
