Sweet Scout somehow lost her people and ended up as a unclaimed stray in the pound. This lovely girl has quickly shown herself to be friendly and affectionate, with just a dash of cheekiness in her foster home. It seems Scout has been well loved by someone in her past and this shows in her positive interactions with people she trusts. She has gone through a lot of uncertainty and rapid change and is understandably a little anxious as a result.
Scout is a happy girl who is getting on very well with her foster humans and has been fine with appropriate introductions with a resident small dog in care. She sleeps happily in her own bed in her carers’ room and uses the doggy door for her toileting needs. Scout loves getting out and enjoys a couple of short walks a day. She currently barks occasionally at smaller dogs (not her foster buddy) when she is out, but we think this reactivity will settle as Scout relaxes. Scout does not seem to have much training, but she knows how to sit for a treat and, being a lover of food, she could be easily motivated to learn new commands. She is untested with children and with cats. Scout is a bit sensitive to neighbourhood noises and barks when people visit. She will need some desensitisation training in her new home to help her with these anxiety-driven behaviours.
Like many of us of a certain age, Scout has creaky knees, but this is not holding her back and, with some joint supplements, she has a good future of modest activity ahead. She is comfortable being picked up and handled and has been a good girl during vet visits.
Scout is a happy, friendly girl, who will do in various household situations where she is loved, supported by routines, and given regular opportunities to sniff the world. She would prefer people who are around more often than not and would do best as an only dog. After a tough time, Scout is looking for a safe haven with people she can love. If you think your arrangements fit the bill, she would love you to submit an adoption application.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
