Hey there, amazing humans! I'm Mabel, a spirited dog with a zest for life! My journey began when my breeder sadly had my siblings and I booked to be put down because she couldn't sell us. Fortunately, some kind-hearted souls stepped in, OTC rescued us and desexed our mum for the breeder, and now I'm ready to find my forever home!
Since coming into care, I've blossomed under the loving guidance of my foster carer. I'm a quick learner and have already mastered being good with chickens, horses, and I'm working on my recall. Right now, I'm crate, clicker, and toilet trained. I'm one smart cookie and know commands like sit, down, stand, break, and "with me," keeping close to your left side with a handy hand signal. "Up up" means I'll follow a lure or make contact with it, and I'm learning other important commands like off, leave it, crate, and come. Food rewards are a big hit with me, especially since I've been known to test the boundaries a bit as all teenagers do! If I get a little too curious, a gentle reminder that "I'm going to pick you up now" usually does the trick.
Now, let's talk adventures! I'm quite the explorer and have been exposed to a whole bunch of exciting things since being with my foster family. We've hit the beach, met some goats, strolled around Bunnings, and even braved the world of bikes and cars. I'm cool with dogs of all sizes, and I've even shared space with cats while visiting a pet store. Busy areas, stairs, storms—nothing fazes me if you lead with confidence. I've got a love for chasing toys, from rolling frisbees to flirt poles and tug games. Plus, I'm a confident swimmer with impeccable form! I love our regular trips to the beach and creek, and am learning how to conquer the lure course too. I'd make a fantastic partner for activities like lure coursing, flyball, or agility. Let's embark on adventures together! 🐾
As I move on to my forever home, I want to share what'll be super important for me. I'm a blend of Border Collie and Cattle Dog, so I've got an independent streak. I like figuring things out for myself, but it's all in good problem-solving fun. Scent work enrichment sounds like a blast for me, and it'll keep me engaged and happy. Plus, I've got a keen nose and a big appetite, so it's a win-win! Oh, and keep that clicker handy, if possible- it's been a game-changer for me, providing consistency, reassurance in new situations, and a major boost in confidence to boot!
So, what do you say? Could I be the one for you? Don't hesitate, apply to adopt me now!
And about my name, feel free to change it if you'd like! I'm a pro at picking up new monikers. Right now, I'm named after a character from the show Gravity Falls. A special shoutout to Ben and family for sponsoring our emergency rescue and giving us a second chance!

Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Apply here after reading below:- Adoption Application: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OTCadoptionapp
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home or in a public place. If you have other animals they should please be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC immediately and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area so OTC can cover any treatment needed. At the completion of your adoption trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract and relevant vet documents.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox should you want an update on your application.
