About Archie
Hi I’m Archie. I have come from several places that just didn’t want or care for me until a neighbour stepped in and rescued me from mould and squalor. As a result, I spent several days in Vet accommodation where they virtually brought me back to life.
I had ear, eye and skin infections. I’m glad to say that they have all cleared up now and I’m just waiting for the rest of my hair to grow back on my underside. For weeks my carer was unable to put a harness on me without me trying to bite her. It wasn’t really a bite, just a warning that my stomach is still tender so anything that was going to come into contact with it, including being lifted into the harness or bath was going to hurt. I’ve learnt to kiss and I love pats and scratches around my mouth. In fact, if you pat me I won’t go away. I’m still learning the art of sitting in laps but that’s a slow process as I still feel uncomfortable and am likely to jump down if you remove your hands.
I’m getting better with bathing and like zooming around in the sun afterwards. I absolutely love balls and have learnt to play with soft toys. I don’t really like the squeaky ones.
I have a great appetite and eat almost anything which is helping me put on weight.
I sleep soundly at night but am having the occasional ‘accident’ if the door to outside is closed or I’m ‘too late’ to get out the door.
I like to check on my carer every so often to make sure she is within earshot then will go back to whatever I was doing. I enjoy sitting in the sun. I don’t need constant patting, just lots of love when I approach you which will make me feel secure. I do not jump on furniture because I’m a senior now and those knees just ain’t what they used to be. I am trying to learn how to play with my carer’s dog but I’ve never been exposed to this so it’s scary but I’m slowly getting better.
I am a loving and affectionate dog and have come a long way in the time I’ve been in care. I need my new owner to continue nurturing me and I can assure you, you will watch me blossom into the most beautiful bouquet you have ever seen.
