About Dexter
Dexter is looking for an owner that has experience with dogs, training or with the Harrier bred. He can be quite challenging and gets over excited, the good news is that his foster carer says he has vastly improved in the short time she has had him. He has oodles of potential but needs structure and leadership. He has been living with other dogs, one being a pointer and they get along great. He is great walking in town and enjoys the attention from anyone willing to give it to him. Dexter was lucky to get to spend some time with an experienced foster carer until her dog became unwell and needs to be kept quiet to recover, in her words “Dexter has so much potential and is so sweet. He would be a good agility dog or other dog sports. He will need a large yard with secure fencing, he is a bit of a digger. He is improving when being left as he used to scream as his carer was leaving and it now has reduced to barking. He is a vocal dog which is a common trait with the Harrier breed, so close neighbours wouldn’t be a good idea.
Please only apply if you have you have read the above information, you feel you can meet his training needs and you have experience with string willed dogs.
when enquiring please outline your experiences with training or with this breed.
Dexter is a great dog he just needs an understanding oener to help show him the way.
Adoption details
Please note- we do not work on a first in best dressed basis, we assess all applications to choose the home that we believe will best match the animal.
If you believe one of our animals would be a good match for your home please send us a detailed email us with some information about the people and any other animals in your home as well as the type of lifestyle you can offer a new rescue pet. We are volunteerswho run the rescue around families, paid employment and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require any other dogs in your home meeting our foster animal before they head home with you. This enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care, this is a condition of our Adoptions.
