About Emmy
Hi Everyone
My Name is Emily or Emmy and I'm now seeking my new forever home
I'm a very sweet and affectionate girl who came from a home that not longer wanted me as they didn't have time for a dog soooooooooo
I am a Staffy cross Possibly Kelpie ( maybe) with a medium athletic build but a very sweet and soft nature. I can be a bit nervous at first to meet new people but once I do all I want is attention and pats! I am a very easy going girl. In fact, infact foster mum would say I have been one of the easiest fosters so far, foster mum still hasn't even heard me bark once ! A nice and chilled personality with some very cute quirks I will be the perfect fit for your forever home!
PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM AND JUNK FOLDERS FOR YOUR APPLICATION FORM ONCE YOU HAVE SENT YOUR ENQUIRY
Independence:
Emmy will happily snooze away all day on the couch while foster mum is at work, she is alone from 7:30-5pm each day and is completely fine on her own. She is fine inside or out as she is not destructive in any way. Emmy knows the daily routine now and will be looking out the window when she hears the front door keys so ready and excited to say hello to her human ! There has not been one bit of destruction since day one being left on her own. she definitely prefers to be an inside dog on the couch during the day though.
Car trips:
Emmy has been tested in the car multiple times and has had no issues whatsoever
Enrichment:
Emmy loves to snuggle up and say hello, if you are on the couch she wants to be a part of it. She loves to have a throw around with toys, loves you to chase her while she does her zoomies! Emmy is very chilled but boy oh boy does she love her walks, when she hears the cupboard open where the lead is she is all over it ready to go!
Walks:
Emmy absolutely loves her daily walks. It is the most exciting part of the day for her for sure. She is strong on the lead but with a halti she is manageable, foster mum has been doing some lead training with her but she will need further training as she is strong girl and very excited to be on her walks, about halfway through her walks the pulling does ease off to more of a amble sniff Emmy goes for a 45- 1 hour walk a day. It important her néw family have time for this to get her out so if you are the adventurous type Emmy is you girl
Animal social skills
Emmy was living with another dog prior to being dumped but we feel she is best suited to a home her own
She will greet other dogs without an issue but does show some dominant traits once she becomes more interactive so we feel most dogs wouldn’t tolerate her boisterous behavior. She has met a number of dogs on lead, she doesn’t excessively pull toward them, doesn’t bark, happy to look and walk on
She has not been off lead with another dog in our care so slow introductions on lead are advised as we do with all dogs
Interacting with humans
Emmy can be initially shy when meeting néw people but soon warms up. She does seem a little more cautious around men. Once she knows you she loves pats and cuddles. Sometimes can get a bit too excited and jumpy but this is not often. She is suited to a home with older children preferably teens as she can be a little over zealous wanting a hug lol
Obedience and Training:
Emmy will sit when told, especially with a treat in hand, her basic manners are very good but a little more training would be good ! She has never been destructive even while left alone. Emmy can get a little excited when you get home or if there is a snack on offer and can get up on her back legs to express this excitement but never actually jumps up on you and she definitely knows when foster mum says no. Emmy is perfectly fine on her own and very well behaved, she is very chilled on the couch most of the time ! Emmy can be a bit nervous if told off in a loud way so positive reinforcement and a more soft approach to being trained is perfect for her.
Sleep Habits:
Emmy from day one has slept alone in the living room very independently , she was given the choice between her bed on the floor or the couch and she has chosen the couch, that is her spot ! She has never cried or gotten up during the night, she sleeps all the way through and carries on snoozing after a quick goodbye from foster mum in the morning. Most importantly though Emmy has a blanket that is now hers to claim and gets tucked underneath it every night before lights out.
Toilet Training:
Emmy has never had an accident inside even on her first few nervous days! A doggy door would be perfect for her
Food and Nutrition:
Emmy has one scoop of dry food in the morning and one scoop with wet food in the afternoon. She has learnt how to sit for dinner at night times! Emmy has shown no aggression whilst eating but can become a little excited while being given treats, she can be a little jumpy but will happily sit for treats and is learning the word ' gentle', her favorite treat by far is a bone or a sneaky pizza crust. She does not seem fussy and can be a little interested whilst her humans eat their food but quickly gives up once she realizes they will not give in and give her any.
Ideal Home:
My ideal home will be quiet home as she is a quiet, chilled girl herself
A family who will continue perfecting her training .
Someone who likes to go on adventures and lots of walks
Teenagers and above as Emmy can be a bit shy especially around loud noisy environments
A family who will snuggle me under the blanket at bed time
At least a moderate size yard
I am a very sweet girl with a very good nature and like my foster mum said one of the easiest so far !
