About Ilich
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT FLY OUR ANIMALS WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Ilich
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance with his siblings at 5 weeks of age.
BREED: Ridgeback X
Breed Traits: Rhodesian Ridgeback: smart but stubborn with a dignified aloofness to strangers, Mischievous and strong willed so would need an experienced owner. They are sensitive and do not do well when left alone for long periods. Affectionate and gentle with family and will defend their home if necessary. Their high prey drive precludes other animals unless raised together. If bored and lonely can be destructive or wander so strong, high fencing is needed. Not a dog for novice owners.
********************************************************************************
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, friendly, laidback, sweet and playful pretty much sums this gorgeous boy up. He's a placid boy who is happy to take himself off to sleep on his own.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Ilich is an absolute sweetheart who loves cuddles. He also enjoys playing with his siblings and his chew toys. He is a typical puppy with bursts of energy where he plays for a while then settles down with his siblings or person for a snooze before waking up and doing it all over again!
ENDEARING FEATURES: Ilich is a fairly independent boy but still loves his cuddles. He likes to do his toileting in private!
OTHER ANIMALS: Being a young puppy he will get on well with other friendly dogs after gentle, supervised introduction. He could live with a dog-savvy, confident cat, again after gentle introduction.
GENERAL INFO: Ilich rarely barks and will need training for pretty much everything being so young. Housetraining is underway but he still has some way to go to master it. Expect accidents while he's settling into his new home and routine! He is crate training at the moment and already knows it is his safe place. He'll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes into adulthood where he can mix with other dogs, and this is a commitment we will expect from his new owner. We expect these pups to be medium sized or just above when fully grown.
ESSENTIALS for Ilich:
** an active, loving home where someone is there for most of the day, essential in the first six months after adoption
** a home where he is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as he needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden where he can run, play, sniff and explore
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for him to learn and grow confidence
** daily walks/playtime to keep him happy and healthy
Ilich will have bursts of energy while a pup and we envisage will be medium energy as an adult dog.
Ilich could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 8 years of age who will play and interact with him appropriately but know when to give him space.
