About Beans
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT FLY OUR ANIMALS WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Beans
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance with his siblings at 5 weeks of age.
BREED: Ridgeback X
Breed Traits: Rhodesian Ridgeback: smart but stubborn with a dignified aloofness to strangers, Mischievous and strong willed so would need an experienced owner. They are sensitive and do not do well when left alone for long periods. Affectionate and gentle with family and will defend their home if necessary. Their high prey drive precludes other animals unless raised together. If bored and lonely can be destructive or wander so strong, high fencing is needed. Not a dog for novice owners.
********************************************************************************
ASSETS: Friendly, gentle, confident, cuddly and playful!
FAVOURITE THINGS: Beans is a sweet, mild-mannered boy who loves cuddles. He also enjoys playing with squeaky toys and running with his fur foster siblings. Beans LOVES water! His favourite things to do are to chase the water coming from the garden hose, swim in his pool, and play in the waves at the beach.
ENDEARING FEATURES: Beans has a gentle, loving personality.
OTHER ANIMALS: He has lived with 5 dog-savvy cats and has been introduced to many farm animals including horses, chickens and goats. He is respectful of all other animals and has shown no interest in chasing.
GENERAL INFO: Beans is fully housetrained and has full time access to a dog door which he is very proficient at using. His command training is well underway, including sitting, staying and waiting respectfully for his dinner. He doesn't jump up and walks nicely on a lead. He travels well in the car and will bark at strange noises. He will benefit greatly from ongoing training as he's a keen learner and is very social. He currently weighs 23kg at 5 and a half months old so will likely be medium to large sized when fully grown.
ESSENTIALS for Beans:
** an active, loving home where someone is there for most of the day, essential in the first six months after adoption
** a home where he is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as he needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden where he can run, play, sniff and explore
** attendance at training classes and continued training into adulthood for him to learn and grow confidence
** daily walks/playtime to keep him happy and healthy
Beans could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 8 years of age who will play and interact with him appropriately but know when to give him space.
