Favorite things -
Pip has a soft spot for all toys - she can play for hours in the yard { either alone or with you} and loves to retrieve toys that are hidden or thrown - however may not always return them. Squeaky toys and tennis balls are her favorite, sheāll jump in the air to catch in her mouth! She loves being chased with the toys in her mouth too, often snatching two at the one time and then playing āyou canāt catch meā. She's so much fun to play with !
Interaction with humans -
Pip is anything but shy around new people, she is generally very polite when meeting people. She may jump initially to greet you and want to give lots of kisses but will quickly settle and can be told to sit. We feel she would be great for a family that also has children who are old enough to play with her too as she has a lovely nature around all people.
Obedience / Training-
Pip is super intelligent and has the traits of a wonder dog! She has quickly learnt to sit, shake, and drop in foster care, and is extremely driven by food which assists in her training. She does pull on the leash when walking but we have now moved to a correction collar method and she is doing really well. She knows to walk on her personās left hand side and to return there. She may at times lunge at a passing car but can often be distracted and attention diverted and continue with the walk.
Pip is very switched on, and as mentioned food driven. When playing with her toys, she is in focus mode and will often pretend she canāt hear you - some training with her recall will be beneficial.
Pip doesnāt mind a car ride as long as she is reassured by her people and has a comfy spot.
Animal Social Skills -
Pip has encountered a few neighborhood cats and has wanted to chase - therefore no cats in her new household.
We have tested her with a gentle female and found Pip wasnt a fan to be up close and personal with other dogs so we are confident she is only suited to an only dog home
Food-
Any food thatās on the menu is okay by Pip. She loves a loaded kong to keep her entertained, and will often eat all her dinner at once unless she has had lots of treats throughout the day. When Pip first came into foster care, she didnāt eat too much and only picked at her food, so may do this again until she is settled into her new home.
Independence -
Pip doesnāt mind being alone, she will often snooze in the sun or play with her toys, enjoy snacks in her kong etc She has shown no signs of destruction which is fantastic, and often overjoyed and ready for us to come back and play again with her! She only barks back when provoked ( noisy little high pitched dogs in the neighborhood carrying on lol ) but otherwise silent and fine when left alone.
Sleeping -
Pip currently sleeps outside in a warm cozy bed in a fully covered area however spends the evenings inside with her foster family curled up on the couch. She will happily go outside at bedtime and to her bed to sleep the night away.
When in the house, she is generally your shadow when she isnāt exploring. Pip has been well behaved in the house and has never had any accidents or issues - please note, she will be interested in the contents of the bin! typical bin chicken lol
Exercise -
Pop is currently walking 2x a day for 20 mins, although would certainly appreciate longer walks that her forever family can provide her. This will be ideal for leash training and building her confidence.
She adores running and chasing her toys and playing in the yard which we usually spend an hour doing each day (highlight of her day Iām sure!). She will enjoy mentally stimulating games and activities in her new home.
Ideal Home-
Pipās best match would look like
A med to larger size yard with plenty of grassed area to play with her toys and run around.
A yard that is fully fenced with a secure fence and plenty of shade and shelter
A home where she is provided with a huge toy box ⦠No dont think one or 2 is enough for her she loves toys and will keep herself entertained all day if you shower her with toys lol
A home with children would be great if they are mature enough to play with her in the yard is a bonus too lol
A home where she is welcomed as a loved valued member of her family
A home who are prepared to take her on a good walk each day
No other pets please
